Congrats Va Tech. (this one really hurts)
You guys just landed the #5 TE in the nation. Mr. Jonathon Hannah.
It was believed as of late last night that it was down to UNC---NC State (where his father went to college)---and South Carolina. With the edge going to UNC since he wanted to play college BB. Roy had already promised him he'd have a place on the team after football season.
He visited VT back on Oct. 2nd.
Another North Carolina football player leaving the state. As I stated in the thread title. This one reallllly hurts. He's an outstanding player and from what I've heard, he's a great person as well. Outstanding talent.

Looks like you spoke too soon. Hannah notified VT coaches this morning that he will be going to South Carolina via text message :/

No, I didnt' speak too soon. He had a large press conference and declared for VT.
Hannah also called 4 other coaches last night and pledged his commitment to all.
I'll never understand why a TE like Hannah would want to play for Spurrier. VT, UNC, and NC State all use the TE way more than Spurriers offense.
On a side note. To show you how slick Spurrier is, he waited till he had Shea McKeens LOI before he let the cat out of the bag on Hannah. McKeen made it clear early in his recruiting process he wouldn't sign with SC if Hannah went there. [McKeen is a TE also and was promised he'd have a chane to start there.] Now its being said that Spurrier wants to move him to DE....
Besides, it matters when they get on the field. 4 years ago Michigan had the #1 recruiting class in the nation and see where that got them. [could have been longer, but they haven't played for a NC as of yet.]
Another thing I've heard is that Hannahs parents just moved to SC from Fayettville, NC. That may have played a roll in his decision.

At Florida, Spurrier(after he got the program going) never went out on the road for recruiting, and he made statements that sounds like he wouldnt leave the Carolinas. But then he snuck in and took 7 players from Georgia and Florida and hit the road personally to see every top prospect. Thats how he stole 6-8 players who were leaning to other, better schools.

Hey, South Carolina is nowhere near a top football program, and I'm the first one to admit it. If the better schools wanted to keep these prospects, they should have tightened up and signed them.

I didn't meand to imply that you had made a mistake, just pointing out that in his douchebaggery Hannah Text messaged VT to tell them he changed his mind.
Hannah will spend his time at USC blocking D-Linemen, whereas at any of the other schools mentioned he would be making big passing plays.

Thats cool. I was highly upset with the news that he called UNC, NC State, VT, and SC the night before and verbaled to all four schools. I'm happy he went to SC....
Sorry If I came across up as arse. It wasn't intended.

Not to change the subject (much) BUT did anyone notice the size of the OT that MD landed (Jared Gaither) 6-9, 330. That's just sick coming out of HS. I wonder if he's a two sport ath. - Gary sure could use a "big" post presents.
