PTF speculating Smoot and Ricky to Dallass
You think Danny would pony up the extra $4 million before letting him go to the Boys?

Quote:
RICKY RUNNING TO DALLAS?
As ridiculous as it sounds, there's talk in Dallas that Bill Parcells might be inclined to make a run at retired running back Ricky Williams, if Dolphins running backs coach Joel Collier, who was Williams' position coach in Miami, becomes the new offensive coordinator of the Cowboys, replacing Maurice Carthon.
Our position is that such talk is too far-fetched to be credible, especially with 2004 draft pick Julius Jones poised for stardom.
The mere fact that this rumor has even gotten started indicates, in our view, that Parcells is obsessed with putting together a winning team in 2005, even if it means further undermining the organization's long-term goals.
With that said, we think that acquiring Williams represents too much risk, not enough reward. We'd let the young Jones tote the pig 30 times a game, and spend the money instead on improving the offensive line, and/or on getting a proven quarterback who can take advantage of the attention that Jones will receive if he builds upon his performance as a rookie.
On the other side of the ball, we'd trade picks that Parcells likely won't be around to use for Denver defensive end Trevor Pryce, and we'd take a hard look at pairing free-agent cornerback Fred Smoot with 2003 first-rounder Terence Newman. We'd also sniff around linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, the run-stopper extraordinaire who enjoyed a career rebirth in Philly after two failed seasons in D.C.
So do we think Parcells would chase after Ricky with all of those other areas of potential improvement on the team? Hell, no.
But is there talk that there might nevertheless be interest, if Collier comes to town? Hell, yes.

Dallass can get Trotter, Smoot, and Ricky for all I car. If we execute and add a couple of key pieces we can be a great team. My experience says that adding those guys will not help Dallass.

I think that is just pure speculation. I don't know if Smoot will go to the boys or where he will go. Maybe San Diego with all that cap room. But I don't see anyone ponying up 14 million SB.

That would be great!
Then the Cowgirls would have Smoot and Newman at the corners with whatever rookie they grab in the draft and they will both get roasted on a regular basis.

Why do you think they call it this ?
This outfit has been awarded first place in the speculation tournament!!!!
(And if memory serves me right, their accuracy rating is not the best !)

Smoot will not go to Dallas Because Jerry will not pay that kind of money for anyone....On top of that, he won't go to Dallas simply because he is a true skin..even though he's pissed, he won't stoop that low....I believe.

With all due respect, i'll have to disagree with ya whitskins.
Smoot isn't nearly the CB as people are making him out to be. He's a #2. As is Newman. Not too worried about Smoot going to dallass.

I think he winds up in KC where he will be getting dusted on a regular basis.

Well, makes it two in a row that I disagree with....lol
Joe, if Smoot was a true Redskin, he wouldn't be trying to break us for a 15 million dollar signing bonus.
If dallass was to fork over that type of money, Smoot would be on the first train to dallass. Money talks.

Dallas already has a lot of money invested in its secondary. Roy Williams and Terrance Newman were both top five picks, I believe. Adding Smoot would be hugely expensive.
So, the Cowboys got rid of Quincy Carter last year because of drugs and they're going to add Ricky Williams this year? How many drug tests do they think Ricky could pass? And wouldn't Ricky be suspended immediately after signing a contract with an NFL team?

True Skin, or not, I could see Smoot going to Dallas for 14 million...
...the only reason I could see him not going to Dallas is because he would become their CB#2...and Smoot fancies himself on being a "top cornerback".
Plus...that would be a large amount of money the Cowgirls would be investing in the cornerback position. 14 million for Smoot (plus salary)...and they are already paying Newman a hefty 7 year contract with a 13 million signing bonus.

I don't understand this "true Redskins" stuff. If the Cowboys pay Smoot more than anyone else, he'll have a star on the side of his helmet next year. I don't know what's going to happen with Smoot, but I do remember--VERY CLEARLY--warning people on the website about this last year. A year ago this time quite a few people--including some who are normally quite rational--were writing that we could let Champ go because Smoot would re-sign with the Redskins because Smoot would never leave the Redskins and Smoot would never leave the Redskins because he's a true Redskin and true Redskins are always reasonable in their contract demands.
I recall shaking my head in disbelief at such nonsense and trying, with little success, to remind people that such is not the way of the world. Never has been. Never will be. If Jerry Rice could finish his career in Seattle and Joe Montana could finish his career in Kansas City and Bobby Mitchell could play several years in Philadelphia before finishing his career in New York, Fred Smoot could sure as hell leave Washington for...anywhere.
Maybe Smoot will stick around. I hope he does--though only at a reasonable price since he wasn't even the best cornerback on the team in 2004. But the notion that Smoot is going to be a Redskin because he's a true Redskin is preposterous. If Fred Smoot is wearing burgundy and gold in 2005 it'll be because Dan Snyder gave him more money than anyone else would.

If the Cowboys meet Smoot's price, he won't care if they designate him the backup quarterback.

Ok.
A-If Dallas wants to overpay for Smoot, so be it
B-Parcells has said many times, as long as the new contact rules are in place, he aint spending a lot for a CB; nor drafting one high.
C-Why does this smell like Smoot's agent? What other team could piss off the Skins' fans/management?
