Redskins inquiring about WR Kevin Dyson

FFMastermind.com Titans correspondent Terry McCormick reports for the City Paper reports while CB Andre Dyson is waiting to secure some more visits in free agency, perhaps next week, older brother WR Kevin Dyson is also drawing some interest. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins have both inquired about the wide receiver and former Tennessee No. 1 pick, who did not play last season after being released by San Diego. WR Kevin Dyson tried out with the Titans in September when WR Tyrone Calico was injured, but the club opted not sign him because of salary cap constraints and Dyson’s past injury situation.

Does this mean the FO doesnt think we can get either Williams or Edwards in the draft... so they are looking for cheap insurance?

I guess we're not exactly banking on Williams or Edwards, makes sense. I don't know how much this guy would really help... I wouldn't want him to take snaps away from Taylor Jacobs, if Mikes Williams is not a Redskin then I want Taylor on the field a lot.

i actually wouldnt oppose to signing him to a 1yr deal. thats about all he's worth now. hasnt done a thing since he left the titans, so he doesnt deserve a good contract.

It may mean the FO wants insurance in case they trade down or Edwards and Williams are gone. OR it may be Bull crap.

I'm sure the Skins aren't thinking about giving this guy a big money deal. He represents a smart investment if he comes on the cheap. He has been a productive receiver when healthy (800+yds and 7TD's with the Titans). If the Skins bring him in cheap and he flops it is no big deal, if he is healthy and contributes it is a bonus. I think their strategy of targeting affordable players like David Patten and now Dyson is a much better plan than jumping in with big money for a player like Plaxico.

Hey, everybody, just b/c the skins sign a player doesn't mean he is going to start or the front office thinks they be good. How this guy is an insurance policy for Edwards or Williams I don't know, if that is the case I hope we don't get sick. He will be brought in for depth and experience, if anything. Any more WR signs to bring in starters at this point is absolutely ridiculous. He will ride the pine or be worked in a package, but I can't possibly see why they would bank on him making any sort of comeback.

I agree with that, however, how many 60 catch 800 yard recievers does one team need? We have Moss, Patten, Thrash, and equal potential with Jacobs and McCants. Why waste any money even if it is vet min for a player who is more risk than reward?

I'm thinkin its the latter. Its probably another Gibbs smoke screen or just bad reporting. We were going after him a few years ago and he signed with Carolina, and he's the same receiver as Taylor Jacobs pretty much, just older and with an injury history. We don't need him at all.

Dyson has only played in 60% of his team's games over his career at Tennessee and Carolina.
He has "injury prone" written all over him.
