Default Draft Prediction & Starting Lineup for 2005

Trade Down with the Texans to #13 and pick up their 2nd. Then package our 3rd (hopefully 1 of 2) and the 2nd to move up to one of the last picks in the 1st round.

#13- David Pollack DE -Georgia (I think I may be the only person on the Pollack Bandwagon, but I'm ok with that.)

Late 1st- Matt Jones WR/TE - Arkansas (He will make an impact this year for whoever gets him, hopefully he drops this far because he was a QB in college)

Starting Lineup
Offense:
QB- Ramsey (2005 or Bust, He must step up this year)
RB- Portis (He will get help from the passing game this year)
HB- Cooley (Will be more involved in the passing game)
WR1- Moss (Deep Threat)
WR2- Jacobs (I think this will be his breakout year)
WR3- Patten (If we start with 3 wide)
TE- Jones (I know he want to play WR, but he is too big not to have him line up tight. He will adapt fine to playing TE)
RT- Jansen (Hopefully back to old self after injury)
RG- Thomas (Will step up with Jansen and Rabach by his side)
C- Rabach (Biggest improvement on the team)
LG- Dockery (if he can't put it together Brown may start while he collect SSI)
LT- Samuels (Needs to live up to his New Contract)

Defense:
LDE- Daniels (I hope he stays healthy, Wynn will step it up)
DT- Griffin (He will make the Pro Bowl this year)
DT- Salave'a (If Noble is healthy he may make a push for the starting job)
RDE- Pollack (Defensive ROY, 10+ Sacks)
SLB- Washington (Best LB on the team until LaVar steps up)
MLB- Barrow (Getting Older, may lose job to Marshall even if he's healthy)
WLB- Arrington (He still has the most potential to reak havoc on the other team, I hope he stays healthy.)
CB1- Springs (Continues to play like the elite CB he is)
CB2- Harris (Not the best, but will give us solid play)
SS- Bowen (If he's healthy I predict a big year for him)
FS- Taylor (Becomes undisputed best FS in the NFL)

Special Teams:
K- Hall (Good when Healthy)
P- Tupa (Collecting SSI with Brown, Still a great Punter)
KR/PR- Moss (Gibbs faces his fear and does what best for the Special teams unit)

I'm sure many of you have opinions on this and I welcome them all!!!

Bring us back to the glory days!!!!!!!

If we snag Matt Jones he will push Royal for the starting spot but with his previous experience it won't be by the start of the season.

Hope we get a top CB in the draft.......Harris looks bad at 2nd ...but if he or Springs get hurt we are screwed.......I repeat we have to have strong CB play for GW to be able to put pressure on QB like last year

I really haven't heard of any team in desperate need of moving up, and you would have to be desperate to give up a 2nd round pick.

I think the 49ers would LOVE to move down 4 or 5 slots, but nobody is giving away 2nd round picks. So its not likely the SKINS are going to get a 2nd round pick for moving down 4 or 5 slots.

As I said yesterday, I am convinced the Skins will move down in the draft, possibly to the #13 slot as you suggest, but I think at this point we will be looking at a 3rd round pick when we move down....whether we move down to the #13 slot or down to #20.

Thats just the way I see it but then desperation comes in waves, and its funny how last minutes pressure with the clock ticking can force somebody to do something stupid. We are in a good position at #9.

I totally agree with you. Even if the 'skins don't get a cb in the first round, they need to add depth to the position. If you were going by the trades he proposed, the redskins would have another 2nd round pick and could get a decent cb. The reason it so important to redskins is that their sacks and qb pressures came from everyone except the d-line. That means one-on-one coverage on the wr.

I'd be happy to see JOnes in a skins uniform.

BUT...he is not a TE. At least not now. He isnt a blocker at all. And wouldnt be ready to start at TE at the beginning of the season. As a WR, i think he could be an impact player right off. So if the skins draft him as a multi-position player, mainly WR, (and dont use a pick on henry or any later round receiver) and also pick up a true TE later in the draft then I'm down (especially if they pick up that dude from KSU)..

As far as I can remember, TE in Gibbs' offense were never big pass catchers. They were mainly blockers who were capable receivers, especially in the red zone. Jones would be a break with that, and thats ok, I just dont see him starting. And if CP is gonna be the backbone of the offense, ya need a HB (Cooley, as much as i like him, needs some work on blocking) and a TE who can block for him.

I love your trading idea, I think that can happen and that seems like the best scenario for the Skins IMO. I wouldn't be upset about drafting:
DE (Spears, Pollack, James)
CB (Jones, Rolle, Rogers)
WR (Williams,Edwards,Williamson,Jones)

If we get 2 of those 11 guys, I'll be more than happy.

Please Gardner, go away!!! (and give us something in return)

LOVE the idea of drafting Pollack. Undersized or not, he is a stud and could be the Defensive ROY this year. Not real sure about Jones though. He seems to be the talk of the draft, but at what expense? Drafting him and having him go bust when CB is very deep with talent and drafting someone like S. Wilson would be fine IMO. Just not sold on Matt Jones.

If that works out we will have done great- only issue is I think Jones should line up all over the place- WR, TE, H-Back. His value to the Skins will be in confusing defenses as to what we are running. I think he would give Gibbs an X-factor that he can exploit.

I would much rather have spears then pollack IMO and i would rather get heath miller for TE then Matt Jones. We already have a pass catcher in cooley and now we need a blocker and a route runner like miller.

For some reason I feel that kid Ware is the next Freeney or Abraham. But not at the 9 spot, we need a high 2nd round pick. I believe we must trade down and get atleast 2 of our 4 major needs. Either WR & CB or DE & TE. I think WR & CB is solid but like someone said we are one injury away from being very weak at these positions. DE would make it alot easier on the CB, but I can see where TE would complete the offense so Miller and Jones could be huge pick ups.
