Wow, people were pronosticating that Diedrick would be our #3 HB... Doesn't sound like it.

Imagine how exciting it would be if each NFL team had their own "minor league" team. Tell me we wouldn't all be paying more attention.... I hate how they are spread out like that.

great!
Thanks for the update CarMike. Nothing spectacular really but at least Brown seems to be holding his own.
If Champ Bailey were playing there those are about the same stats that I would expect. Passes defended and no TD's. So its hard to tell but at least no glaring stats that hurt him. He is really benefiting from this experience.
Cornerback will be a strong position for the Skins this year, especially with Sean Taylor being better in coverage help.

The salaries of the entire "practice squad" would be less that one marquee players in the NFL. You could put the team in an area that you want to either 1) get more fans or 2) reward non-local fans. I just think it would be such a great way to develop talent (players and coaches) and prevent guys like Kurt Warner from slipping through the cracks (to a degree). They'd have to expand the draft to about 15 rounds, but so what?

they could keep the draft at 7 rounds, but that way it would allow undrafted players to get a chance to prove themselves

Another update on our guys in Europe...
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=6226
Among Redskins-allocated players, linebacker Joe Tuipala, center Ben Nowland and cornerback Rufus Brown started in Week 3. Tuipala, playing at middle linebacker, led Cologne with eight tackles. Dahrran Diedrick had 11 carries for 54 yards, with a long of 12, for the Rhein Fire. Brown logged his first NFL Europe interception for Hamburg.

Yes, he's disappointing me - for now. Not sure what the problem is?? Is it him, is it the line, both, injury. Don't know, just stats over the airwaves.
I understand your remarks and to me its warranted. Maybe it explains why other teams kept taking him back off their roster. Maybe he's just ST fodder at best. Certainly no confidence in giving him carries huh.

Yep and a healthy Bowen is how ST escalated smoothy also. Both in the backfield at the same time with SS and Rogers, I can keep a smile on my face.

update on our guys in Europe:
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=6226
this guy seems to be making an impact:
Joe Tuipala, MLB, Cologne
Week 1: Start, 5 tackles (4 solo)
Week 2: Start, 2 tackles (2 solo), 1 special teams tackle
Week 3: Start, 3 tackles (1 solo)
Week 4: Start, team-high 8 tackles
Week 5: Start, 4 tackles (4 solo), 1 pass defended
Week 6: Start, 6 tackles (5 solo), 1 special teams tackle
Bio: Tuipala, who signed with the Redskins in January 2004, is a three-year NFL vet and has had stints with the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a special teams standout for Jacksonville in 2001-02, leading the team in tackles both seasons. He also saw limited duty as a reserve middle linebacker for the Jaguars, recording 17 tackles (8 solo) in two seasons. Tuipala hails from Honolulu, Hawaii.

I completely agree that stats do not tell the whole story. We'll see when camp starts and we're getting daily updates, but as of now Brown and Tuipala are the only two I think have an outside shot at making it.
Diedrick would also be eligible for PS next season as well (I think), but the fact that we drafted two RBs doesn't bode well for him either.
