Default Defensive Backfield

Terrell or Lott or Ohalete? Here is what Pro Football Weekly has to say on the matter:

Washington

There will be a number of significant starting jobs open at the start of training camp, including running back, offensive guard and defensive tackle. But one of the more intriguing competitions could be at strong safety. The principle battlers will be Ifeanyi Ohalete and David Terrell, but second-year player Andre Lott could compete as well. Ohalete played the best down the stretch, and his hard-hitting, high-energy style fits well in new defensive coordinator George Edwards’ scheme. He wants smart, physical players, and Ohalete fits that role, but he must prove he can keep up that intensity for 16 games. Terrell is versatile, able to play either safety spot or cornerback, so it appears his greatest value might be as a reserve. Lott is said to share that versatility, but he is behind the other two at this point after learning slowly as a rookie.

Safety is an intriguing position for us. We all knew it was one of our weaker positions going into this offseason....

So what did we do?.......we brought in a backup Safety from Lambeau, and passed on Mike Doss in the draft. UGH.

Terrell is best suited as a 4th cornerback behind Bailey, Smoot and Bauman. Ohalete (or Omlete, as my wife called him once when she misread his jersey ) truly played his heart out and shows some flashes of excellence. Lott is the true wild card, as we scarcely saw him last year. I'm excited to see how this pans out. Bowen is supposed to be much better than a simple backup. Lets hope the FO found a diamond in the rough with this guy.

Overall...I think Bowen and Omlete will start for the majority of the year.

I agree with dj here, but don't underestimate Lott. I like his hard hitting and I think he'll push someone for playing time.

I'm hoping it'll be Bowen and Ohalete. I'll never forget watching Terrell in that Monday Night game against Philly. Terrible, just terrible.... It's like he thought there was another safety behind him to cover deep.

Lott better have shown much improvement than last year. I was one fo the guys that was pressign for him and was pretty high on him, but man, he got bruned and bit at fakes left and right. I say start out with Ohalate and Bowen. Ohalate did nothing to lose the job.
