Now that the President's social security plan is all but dead the GOP now wants to return to a familiar battle cry. "Spend the Surplus!!!"
This time they have their eyes on the Social Security surplus. We all know how well they spent the fed surplus when they wanted to give out tax breaks. Now they want spend the SS surplus to carve out retirement accounts.

The problem is that the SS Fund runs deficits starting in 2017, so it would need the surplus to continue giving out benefits to 2040 (the real date of insolvency).
