i am glad wilbon wrote this one...that article in the post with quotes from Kwame really pissed me off....
source
when i hear Kwame quoted as saying.....
Quote:

"I will say this, my frustrations, everything that happened, whatever started my disagreement I had with the Wizards, is because I wanted to play basketball."

I can't believe after 4 years this stupid kid refused to take any responsiblity for his role in his limited playing time....'I just wanted to play basketball'...oh cry me a freakin' river...if you want to play basketball show up to practice, run your butt off, fight for position under basketball, learn YOUR DEFENSIVE responsiblity, PAY ATTENTION when they put you in a real game (can't hurt to do this in practice too), listen to your coach (he only wants to help you), oh and here is a new one...practice your post moves from time to time, maybe take a hundred jumpshots instead of speeding home after practice to play 'nba live'...
KWAME...your playing time is indelliable tied to your effort in practice nothing should just be given to your in the forth year just because your where the 1st overall pick in the draft...take a page from micheal ruffin or even etan thomas to understand what it takes to contribute...work on the defensive end and rebound the ball then you might have played more...
and when he says....

"I never would've mutually agreed to be suspended. They did it the way they did it and I have to respect that."
|
are you kidding me?!?!?!?... YOU SKIP PRACTICE (in the playoffs of all times), AVOID YOUR COACHES, TEAMMATES, GENERAL MANAGER'S, phone calls...and then when someone comes over you cry about your tummie ache....but hey they shouldn't have suspended me they should have played me more...right, now i understand.
a couple of months ago i would have said if he was serious about changing his attitude and his work habits that we should think about bring him back (at 6.9 per year it wouldn't have been a big gamble capwise...) even with larry leaving i wouldn't have minded giving him another year to develop...with the loss of larry there was an opportunity for someone on the frontline to step up and fill some of the offensive scoring that larry took with him to cleveland....if he worked hard here was his chance to 'show' everyone...
(but this was only an option if he seemed to demonstrate that he had learned something from quiting on his team during the playoffs...which he has clearly demonstrated he has not done)
so now i am with wilbon GOOD RIDDANCE! have fun getting yelled at by Kobe...(and you thought mike was tough on you..enjoy, i can honestly say you deserve it)...
by the way Mitch thanks for giving us a couple of professionals in Butler and Atkins
