Default Accuracy of Ramsey a Concern ~ ~ ~

Redskins | Accuracy of Ramsey a Concern - from www.KFFL.com
Thu, 3 Jul 2003 11:17:02 -0700

Mike Bruton, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports that Washington Redskins head coach Steve Spurrier has settled on QB Patrick Ramsey, but there is some concern about Ramsey's accuracy. He was inconsistent at times during the team's minicamp.

What in the hell would Mike Burton, of the PHILADELPHIA Inquirer know about Ramseys accuracy? Just the opposite was said by Spurrier himself about Ramsey. He said how good Ramsey looked during the camp.

But yeah, we should listen to a PHILADELPHIA journalist......

The Mind Game. Yeah, we're supposed to listen to a Philly journalist. He needs to look no further than home because McNabb has that problem also on ocassion.

Actually, accuracy is not my concern, Ramsey has accuracy, had it in college. How can you be accurate last year when by the time you snap ball you have two second top to get rid of it or your dead. This year he has a great line, receivers that are quick, accuracy is not an issue. That woudl be like me trusting what a Dallas reporter writes about the 'Skins,,,,,not gonna happen.

By only concern is that Patrick has learned the skill of reading defense that is required for the Spurrier offense to function correctly.

I've read where Ramsey had a 51.7% completion rate last year.....not too bad when our WRs dropped a lot of balls that were on target.

And like has been said, when you don't have time to throw the ball, Favre wouldn't have much better #s.

NHor is he used to have anything over 2.14 second to throw the ball or get decked.

Many article have said that Ramsey looked shaky at the start of mini camps but by the end of them he was looking very sharp. This guy failed to mention that,

Write this down, take it to the bank, archive it somewhere because what I am about to say is 100% truth, Ramsey will be our team's MVP after the season and all these naysayers will say I knew he was gonna be good I just didn't realize he would be THAT good! Ramsey has no problem with accuracy, like was said, he was dead on target even when his life was on the line!

Accuracy for Ramsey is a concern. He's never going to complete the 65% of his passes that you see in some West Coast offenses and I don't expect him to ever be as accurate at Ken Anderson or Troy Aikman--the two most accurate passers I've ever seen. However, he does need to boost his completion percentage into the high 50s percentile for the offense to work properly. The Fun and Gun doesn't produce as many completed passes as the West Coast offense because the ball goes farther downfield, but if Ramsey is under 55% completing his passes this year, I think the Skins will have a very hard time making the playoffs. He's a young quarterback and young quarterbacks often struggle with accuracy. A good offensive line and wideouts who can get some separation should help a lot.

Kelly - did you make that line up? I went to the redskin section of KFFL.com and didn't see anything posted on July 3rd.

Maybe this note was deleted by kffl for some reason? It didn't appear to be in the Philly section either.
