Redskins | No Scrimmage for Samuels
Sun, 7 Aug 2005 12:37:14 -0700

The Daily Press reports Washington Redskins OT Chris Samuels participated in individual drills, but he was held out of the team's scrimmage Saturday, August 6. No reason was given for holding him out.

Redskins | Injury Update: Taylor
Sun, 7 Aug 2005 12:36:46 -0700

The Daily Press reports X-rays on Washington Redskins WR Taylor Jacobs' (toe) sprained toe were negative, but he'll still have an MRI done Sunday, August 7.
I didn't know that Samuals didn't play in Saturdays scrimmage. That could explain some of the OL woes...

In the Post article today they said Samuels was rested during the 11 on 11 segment. The article also quoted Dockery saying that the coaches gave the line no plans for the blitz. Lineman were just blocking their man and blitzers pretty much came free.

That's a relief!! I'm surprise that there was a lot of blitzing in a first scrimmage

I was thinking the exact same thing smoot. Can't pin it all on Ramsey now, I still have my doubts that he can be great, but he doesnt have to be if the line is.

Considering that there was no contact on the QBs - no real risk.

It's only a scrimmage. There is no game planning.

I think the guys calling the game made a big deal out of nothing. Ramsey is going to be fine, he is going to lead us to the playoffs and hopefully the SB. I can't wait till Saturday..............

Defense is always ahead of offense this time of year and that defensive core has been together for a few years now. Sounds like they had a jail break on defense and we were unprepared and undermanned on offense. I will stay positive and hopefully we will get better results Saturday, with a gameplan, against another stout defense.

Exactly, which makes me wonder why Baltimore blitzed so heavy, especially in a scrimmage. The Giants coach, Coughlin, got into a fight yesterday with the DC of the Jets for doing similar type stuff. Yet Gibbs had no worries, as a matter of fact, him and Billick decided to do this again next year at Fed Ex.
I read in Gibbs comments after the scrimmage where he said that he purposely put his Offense in difficult situations.
My thought's on all this, is that he and Billick talked about this and Gibbs wanted to see how Patrick reacted under the circumstances.
This is all just something I have thought up, I could be totally wrong or maybe I am partially right. Either way, it was a scrimmage and any potential problems should be exposed and addressed now, not in September.

I like the thought here.. This may have been a trial by fire sort of deal from Gibbs. Good thought!!

Did anyone else notice the play on the offensive highlight video were Campbell side stepped the rush and delivered a pass to the WR.

Maybe Ramsey should watch that and figure out how to mve his feet and get the ball out. And blitzers are often not the OL responsibility, there is no way that Deion Sanders blitzing from the corner is the OLs fault.

I hope you, and others, will report back to us less fortunate ones unable to watch it live. And, no, I'm just too dang impatient to wait for the taped version.
