Default Did You See USA Today OTs Ranking?

Did you see Sports Weekly (by USA Today) OTs rankings?
Its a paper, not on line.

But it's not local, & covers the whole NFL not just the 'Skins (ie. objective not sucking up to the fans, though that has it's place too *LOL*)

Chris Samuels was ranked the 2nd Best Tackle in the entire League
Jansen was ranked in the top ten (over 20+ Left Tackles on other teams)
The Redskins were the only team with both tackles in the top ten.

Randy Thomas was in the top 10 in guards.

And the O-line was rated top 5 in the league.(I guess they didn't like our center)

When the lines are good, you're looking at average to good season. But you can't do worse than average.

Redbeard has spoken.
" But you can't do worse than average."

That's some pretty lofty goals you've set there.

Thanks for the info Redbeard. I don't read that paper so I would have never seen that if not for you. So, thank you.

Our OL will be one of our many strengths this year. Not only do we have a very good starting 5. But we have depth too. Thats the most important thing. Depth...

Your right Redbeard....I have always been one that believes success starts with a good OL.

Thanx for the info redbeard. I'm surprised Jansen isn't in the top 5 in the league.

I also tend to like Jansen over Samuels although I love them both. As an Offensive lineman myself, I love that we finally have a good line. We should do great things with the wider holes for our RBs and extra seconds for P-Rams. The only sad thing is thinking about what Davis might have been able to do behind that line. I'm still excited to see our boys run for 5ypc (hopefully with Watson on the team and getting some carries).

Samuels has that hype of being such a high draft pick. Jansen (granted a steal in the second round) was more or less forgetton and he goes about his manner wiht a quite demeanor!

Where is Fiore on that list??? (guess he didn't make it?)

My major concern is Moore this year. I truly feel if we were to put Fiore at center (a position he is more than familiar with) and let Tre Johnson take Fiore's spot, we'd have the second coming of the hogs!

I know there's already a thread on Tre, but I don't know if he's the one I want in on passing downs (which I'm assuming there will be a lot of them) as I have not heard or seen that pass blocking is a strength of his. I think he's great at run blocking and especially pulling, but I think Dockery and Johnson need to work that spot and split snaps in practice so the other four are used to both. Having said all that, I agree with everyone who is glad to see a problem of this sort.

JSARNO: they did little articles on the top 10 (elite, simply solid, rising fast, etc.) but listed the top 20. My recollection was Foire was in the 10-20 zone for the guards still puting him in the top 1/3 or the NFL. Not bad for the 4rth best lineman on the team!

Moore did not make the top 20 listed in the centers. Though he was not so hot I gave him a pass on last year just because he was sandwiched between two bad guard, both worse. And will look to see how he does this year inbetween more solid help. This will be the telling year for him, I think.

Nice to see the tackles so strong, just because that was something I always faulted Casserly with, not seriously pursuing OTs. (5years of Pourdanesh??)

I doubt we'll get a review that glowing by anyone on anything unless we make the play-offs.

Thanks for the info!
Isn't Moore our center???

I am a FIRM believer that your team does well when you have a good line...if you have a great one, then you do VERY well. So far it looks like we have a great one.
