Forgot to add...one of the reasons training camp is not like the old days is because Football is not the same as well. Training camp used to be about getting the players in football shape. Well this day and age those players better already be in shape. The offseason has gotten smaller and smaller in recent years. I think Spurrier did not like the fields last year and that was the main reason he wants to have close to home.

I'd say that the intensity of the camp depends mostly on the coach and not the location. Several teams stay around home now. The Skins used to travel across country to California back in the 1950's I think. Alot of good it did them during that timeframe.

Skinz, too bad you'll miss out on seeing the camp though. I'm sure it was something to look forward to.
