D. Gardener out until week #3
Seems he hurt his wrist in the fight the other the night. Since he's a former Redskins, I thought I'd post it here for you guys to read.
BTW, I don't have a link. Found this on another MB.
Broncos' Gardener Needs Surgery
The Associated Press
Tuesday, July 22, 2003; 8:21 PM
DENVER - Broncos defensive tackle Daryl Gardener will have surgery after tearing wrist ligaments during a fight last week and is expected to miss the first two weeks of the season.
Following surgery on Thursday, Gardener will be in a cast for six weeks and will need two more weeks of recovery after that, Broncos spokesman Paul Kirk said.
That means Gardener would miss all of Denver's preseason games and the first two regular games of the season.
Gardener and Broncos defensive tackle Russell Newman were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct after a fight with another customer at a restaurant early Friday morning.
Police said a third person was involved in the fight, which started with an argument inside the restaurant over a long wait to be seated.
Kirk would not say whether the Broncos would discipline the players.
Gardener joined the Broncos in March after starting 15 games last year for the Washington Redskins. Newman, released by the Philadelphia Eagles during last year's training camp, was signed in January.

Funny huh ? Glad we didn't waste our off-season money on this injury proned crutch. I know I wanted to sign him before, but hopefully this season everything is gonna be working out better for them Skins.

HAHAHA
Good! He deserves it for being a putz to us.
He should have stayed and liked it because we took a chance on him.
What goes around comes around.

What this means is that when he does show up for work [week three of the regular season, at the earliest] he won't be in playing shape because he will not have participated in any of the team's practice work. I have the feeling it is going to be another one of those seasons for Daryl Gardener.

He will make it to the season though...and THEN he will hurt his back!!!
Spence is right, he won't be in playing shape, and he'll end up pulling his back etc.

I'll eat a little crow on this one. I was a big 'Gardener should be signed' backer this offseason. Obviously this incident may not have happened if he stayed, but this definitely raises character issues that were present the year before in Miami which led to his dismissal. Still hoping the middle of our line can hold in 03.

It's ok...at least you came clean! No one blames you for your intent...we still have interior line problems.

Yeah no one can blame you for wanting to keep him...when he was healthy and here he was flat out dominant. He swore he was going to be here after the season but would not accpet a contract that insured the Skins of his health problems. They were smart not to resign him.

Spending the money on Thomas and some others does seem wiser after this IHOP news. I'm really hoping all of our high pricetag guys come out of training camp injury free and confident in the coaching staff.
