Question MySpace.com

What's the deal with this site? Anyone a member? Some people I work with told me about it since I'm interested in trying to find old coastie buddies and some friends from high school.

I'm not looking to meet "new" people. Is this a site that I can look for friends without receiving unwanted emails from single women? Can't have the wife getting upset with me. lol

Any help would be appreciated.

from what ive gathered, alot of my friends have it and they flat out love it. some admit to being addicted to it. however, i think its mainly for the highschool and college crowd although i may be wrong. but i dont think you need to worry about e-mails, its more of a message board kind of think. at the very least its worth checking out but ive never really gone into depth in it. i prefer to hang out over at www.facebook.com instead

I thought I would find alot of cool artwork but all I found was people asking each other in spraypaint if they had myspace and were drawing hearts around it. It seemed like more of a internet predator site than a sight about graffiti artists.

well, I have an account on myspace and unless you are a teenage girl in high school I wouldn't worry. I don't get to many unsolicated messages (don't know what that says about me). It is mostly high school and college people (and the third most populated group is pornographers, man the more I talk about it the more this site doesn't sound to appealling), but its cool cause I have been able to catch up with lots of people of high school. For the first month or so I was on it a lot just looking around, but now I just use it to catch up with friends and stuff. Plus it is nice to go to another website outside of this and es.com, but then again I just go to the Skins group in that site.

Sometimes you can find old friends on myspace. Depends on your age I guess. I'm 26 and a lot of people from my highschool are on there. It's nice to do some catching up. One guy committed a sex crime (he pulled out his wee-wee outside some lady's bedroom window in Clifton) and people created a myspace for him and included his mug shot along with a very embarrassing police report. That myspace was sent to everyone in our graduating class. I thought it was funny as hell until I found out the guy had serious brain damage from a car accident. Myspace.com took that one down eventually.

Myspace is very good for musicians. You can put your music on there and other people might listen to it and perhaps grow a network to help one another get gigs. There are a lot of flakes on there as well. This one guy was posing as a classical guitarist in order to meet girls but the recordings he put on his site were of John Williams.

I have an account and I like it a lot... But then again I am a high school student. It's getting really really big now. It seems like EVERYONE is getting one. Might as well join the bandwagon.

BusinessWeek had an article on it recently. It is gigantic in South Korea. I mean gigantic like you wouldn't believe. About 75% of South Koreans under the age of 20 use it and about 25% of the entire country are members of it. Pretty amazing.

I browsed this site for the first time...and immediately found an old friend from high school that I played soccer with.

However, the majority of the site seems to be geared to high school kids, college kids and 20-30 somethings who are looking to meet potential mates in their area.

Not my cup of tea, either...
