Default Will this be a regret?

-- Thompson Impressing -- from FFMastermind.com

The Miami Herald reports Dolphins WR Derrius Thompson continued to dazzle. Thompson hauled in a deep pass down the left sideline to beat the corners. On the next play, Thompson got open underneath for another reception.

We have his type in Gardener and McCants w/ contracts. We needed the Top flight guy (Coles) and speed burners more than a three deep at the SE. I wish him well though.

He might do well but we have a glutten of WR...I think he will have Thrash type sucess..which is decent but not great.

Well, it comes down to this:

Would you rather have Laveranues Coles or Derrius Thompson?
Would you rather have Taylor Jacobs or Derrius Thompson?

The first is easy to answer. The second is an open question.

Both questions are easy to answer. Thompson never really impressed me. Someone had to be our #2 guy in 2002 and put up some respectable numbers. Just happened that he was the pick of a pathetic litter.

I do not think he was as good as Thrash either.

Well, I tend to agree with you, but Jacobs hasn't played a down yet and he is--let's face it--a Gator wideout. I think he'll be a good player, but a certain amount of skepticism is probably warranted.

You are correct about that. I wonder what the skins saw in Jacobs that the other gators lacked. I don't doubt his abilities at all, but some skepticism is called for here. He doesn't exactly have much of a legacy to live up to in the NFL. Let's just hope he breaks the gator jinx. However, letting Thompson go was a smart decsion. Sure, he's doing great in preseason, but so did Skaggs for us. We'll just have to wait and see.

I wish Thompson well... but do not miss him. As already stated... we have plenty of talent at WR (as long as Patrick can get it to them).

SPENCE: I have a twist on your question. WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE COLES OR..................CHAMP BAILEY????!!!!! I have always felt that the signing of Coles (Thomas, etc.) would affect our ability to sign Bailey (and/or Arrington) . Maybe it's just me. I know that this is a Spurrier team, but my vote would go for Bailey (or Arrington)

HMmmmmmm, thats a toughie. Without a impact, speedy threat, we saw what happens to the Spurrier offense.

According to George and Sunny (News 4), Jacobs has been very impressive so far.

I'd rather have Champ than anyone else on the team. He's the best player the Redskins have and shutdown cornerbacks are even more tough to find than franchise quarterbacks. I love Champ. I'd make him my first priority.

I think that it has the potential to be a regret. He made strides with us. We groomed him then we let him go. As already stated, he is more of a proven commodity then Jacobs. Another spin I would put on it is if we keep him, then maybe we go after Doss or maybe a DT in the second round, two areas that many seem to still be concerned about.
