I really hope the skins have some kind of a plan to replace big daddy or else all these great fa pickups won't mean a thing. At the very least he was a body that could fill the holes on the line. I don't want to see an undersized guy in there for any reason. I just have to have faith that the FO knows what they're doing.

Well, with freed up money, the skins can now talk to champ about an extension. It's great for the future, but if the skins don't have anybody to take bd's place, the shorthaul will be tough.

he may have been a body but he didnt fill the holes that well:
from ESPN.com
"In his four previous seasons in Washington, when Wilkinson played a much higher ratio of the plays, the Redskins ranked 28th, 27th, 22nd and 20th in defensive versus the rush. The conclusion of coaches and team officials: The run defense probably will not be much worse without Wilkinson as a part of it."
so i think the FO did know what they were doing IMO.

Yes, he was never the best, but he was better than anyone else on the team. The point is that he could clog up the middle better than anyone else we have, and now Haley will have to do that, which is yet another step down from an already bad position.

I think of it this way...I would not want to lose one of the best defensive players we have because we are trying to keep a guy that is slightly better then his backup.

How? Why? Maybe you know of a replacement that will be brought in. I don't see how we'll be better. Hoping for a repeat performance of last year's D Line seems like a stretch to me.

Amen !

If we are lucky, there may be a hidden talent discovered in TC that will do just as well as or even better than BD.
That's what TC is for!

Wilkinson played along side of Daryl Gardener last year, and everyone knows what kind of year he had last season, so the fact that "Big Daddy" only had 17 tackles and 0 sacks amazes me to this day. Everyone knows Gardener saw the majority of the double teams last year. Big Daddy should have had 12 sacks last season. We can get the same amount of productivity from Haley and the other young kids for less cap room.

I say kudos to the FO for having the courage to pull the string and send a message. Produce or your out.

Yes, but he is kind of small and we need him at End. Our draft picklast season, Gereg Scott is being permitted to play for time there as well, but i dont think he has great size for a DT either.
