Default Things that have annoyed me in the NFL this week...

1. Diet Pepsi Machine commercial - Sure, it was mildly funny the first time or two I saw it. But now that they run it AT LEAST ONCE EVERY COMMERCIAL BREAK during a game, it makes me want to put myself through a plate glass window.

2. Suzy Colbert - This incompetent "sideline reporter" took forever to give us any indication whatsoever of what was happening with Taylor on the sidelines after the spitting incident, AS WELL as what was happening with Portis and his obvious lack of playing time. Her grunting delivery has softened somewhat over the year, but I still equate her hideous voice to the sound of two gibbons engaged in a steel cage death match above a flaming pit of magma. And what's with that mop on the top of her head? She looks like the drummer of Ratt.

3. Mamma McNabb - Ranked right up there next to the Diet Pepsi Machine commercials. Man, I'm sick of seeing this woman "draw up plays" and run around like a fool while a bunch of actors dressed up like Cleveland Browns pretend to get beat by Lil' Donovan. If I was an Eagles fan, I would curl up in the fetal position from embarrassment every time these abominations came on the air.

4. Herman Edwards - I'm sorry, but this guy just annoys the crap out of me. I'm so sick of these coaches who act like they're channeling Mel Gibson from Braveheart every time they hit the podium and address the media. It's like, every time this dude gets behind a mic, he tries to offer some sort of "life lesson" or make some big "we're going to war" speech. It just comes off as empty holier-than-thou posturing to me. Just shut up and answer the questions, jackass. I don't know what would be worse for Chiefs fans - watching Vermiel cry every week or hearing the crazed rantings of Herm Edwards for the next who-knows-how-many years....

5. Tom Brady - Did you hear his whole speech about the Pats being "the most disrespected team in the NFL"???? Are you KIDDING ME??? It reminds me of the kid at school who always said he'd "failed" the big test but would always get an A. Shut up, you Matt Damon-looking golden boy. Please, PLEASE, someone beat the Patriots. I just can't stomach them in the postseason anymore....

I need to take up meditation or something...

I agree with all your points except the one on Herm Edwards. I actually enjoy listening to him speak and I think he gives well thought out answers, which I would rather hear than the typical canned coach speak we hear from 99.999% of all coaches in interviews and press conferences. JMO.

1. Yeah, unlike the Peyton or Patriot Visa commercials, I don't find these funny.

2. Uh-Oh. yuo're messing with BNG's girl. I better get out of here before the fur flies.

3. You think you see too much of Mama McNabb? Try living near Philly!!! It is awful! Frankly I get a chuckle when I see the commercials given that the Eagles are not in it.

4. I really haven't seen much of Herm? I liked him more as a coordinator. His personality does tend to rub me the wrong way.

5. I can't say I want the Pats to lose this weekend as I would love nothing more than to see the Ponies go down hard. But I do agree that I am tired of Brady's attitude when it comes to the Pats. I think the entire world is ready for someone new to win it all... And by new I mean someone who has three Super Bowl rings, but hasn't done it recently (to no fault of his own).

Every year all the football anaysts go overboard with a certain phrase. Last year it was "swagger." I swear every team that won in a given week was "getting a little bit of swagger" or "getting their swagger back." Ugh.

This year it's "pinning their ears back." In this case you can say it any time a guy gets a sack or when a team gets multiple sacks in a game. I don't mind this phrase every once in a while but I'm starting to hear it every other game.

Yes, there are a lot of phrases that are overused.

But you know what, the one that really gets me, that shoulda made my list, is "You know what."

Guys drop that phrase like crazy. "But, you know what, if that Redskins offense doesn't do better, they'll be going home next week." "Tiki should've said, 'Hey, you know what? I was wrong.'" "Everyone was down on the Patriots early in the season, but, you know what, they're still winning playoff games."

Hey, you know what? You're annoying.

I agree with everything there. Especially Edwards, I mean I hate the Jets but he sure screwed them over and nobody really seems to care. This is the worst offseason in many years to abandon your team to go to another team (lack of available coaches) in the same conference before your contract is up. For a FOURTH ROUNDER. As Redskins fans, we all know how important continuity in the coaching staff is, and he just bailed on them when the road got a little rocky.

It annoys me that the story of Chad Johnson taking a swing at Coach Lewis does not make the headlines, but the Taylor spitting incident is written about in 100 different articles.

I agree 100% on this. He wimped out at his Chiefs press conference. Plain and simple.

I agree with that list, although I didn't see the Herm press conference I was a bit peeved about the way he weaseled out of NY.

Since you talk about commercials I will say that I love the commercial for the NFL Network where it shows different fans talking about stuff before the season. One fan says to a bartender, "Dude, I love the Bears, but they'd be lucky to win 3 games this year". Well the best one is this: Guy 1: "Man, that Drew Rosenhaus sure does know how to represent his players." Guy 2, strumming guitar: "Yeah, I wish he was my agent."

FYI -
They are about to play and discuss the Herm Edwards press conference on the Dan Patrick show.

Brilliant.

This is like the catchphrase for your boy, Salisbury. He does it with EVERY SINGLE PERSON at ESPN.

Hey, you know what, Trey?
Hey, you know what, Mark?
Hey, you know what, Dan?
Hey, you know what, Mike?

I couldn't agree with you more... I hate HE. I cant take out of my head his stupid: "you play to win the game.... hello?". That was just irritating and annoying.... I prefer to see Vermeil crying than these false speeches... at least Dick was sincere about it, I don't think I can say the same about Edwards. Inspirational speeches only sound good from great great coaches... and HE is an average one IMO.

The diet pepsi machine isn't even that funny of a commercail. Hopefully they will stop playing it if the Pats get knocked out of the playoffs.

I agree. Why is the machine a WR in the first place? A smart coach would switch him to nose guard. He could command triple teams and let the rest of the D-line get free shots at the QB.
