not a bad move by the cars. although he's not getting any younger, i dont think josh mccown is the answer. cards said the signing doesnt rule out them drafting a qb.

whoooooaaaa....didnt read the 6mil a year part. thats pretty insane. and 11 TD's and 9 INT's does not warrant that kind of money. although he'll likely be cut after the 2nd year if he doesnt retire, i dont see the cards wasting that much money on him.

That is too much money for him. Call me crazy but I see flashes of hope in McCown. Either way as long as they keep throwing the ball they will both be in my fantasy thoughts come draft day.

no kidding, i would much rather have the young, mobile mccown for the close to minimum hes making as opposed to an old fading, statue of a qb who hasnt shown anything in the last 3 years to make him worth that kind of money. then again, many people said the same thing about brunell, minus the statue part

Makes me thankful for Gibbs drafting Campbell. There are NO QB's that I would want to bring in right now. Teams like NYJ, Oak, Balt, Clev, Hou, Tenn, Det, St. Lou, and soon to be dallass are going to be in trouble.

It doesn't say how much of the money is garunateed, but it does say that he could make up to 24 mill is performs like he did last season, which wasn't spectacular. I guess the Cards are well under the cap for this year.

I think the Card are just happywith the production of there stud wide recivers. They want to continue the success fromt his year and market that more, so they want to have someone they know can do that back in AZ again.

He's worth about 3 mil a year if you ask me but maybe the deal is backloaded in base salary/frontloaded in bonuses. that way, it makes a parting of ways in 2 years doable and without much salary cap penalties.
I am real excited because it means McCown is on his way out--which means the Cards will be looking for a no. 2 QB who might be able to challenge/push Warner for the Starting job. And that means Ramsey is that much more attractive.

To be honest, I am less that luke warm on Warner, but I think this is brilliant. They can bring in a young kid and give him time to get in there. Regarding the money, I have to assume the signing bonus is low and that the Cards could cut him after one year with little cap consequences.
Maybe I am wrong, but I just don't see Warner getting much of the money and I think it buys Arizona some time to get another guy up and running.

If they were smart they would be trying to trade for David Garrard. $6 million a year is waaaaaay too much for Warner.

I think this is a really smart move for that franchise. They had one of the top offenses in the league this past year, and were certainly able to move the ball on us!! That team is built around those great, young receivers, and if they can improve their OL a bit, they should be pretty good. If Warner is protected well, and can step up to make a throw, he's just about as good as there is in the league.
