But wouldn't it make us worse off in '06? I think you are still carrying a grudge from that scuffle you guys got in back in '04.

Well, let me preface this next comment with this disclaimer:
I don't think there is any way the Skins will end up with Ray Lewis at all. The Ravens want a big deal for Ray and the Skins shouldn't give up a lot for him. He's old, injury-prone and overrated. BUT: a LB Corps of Marshall, Lewis and Washington would be better than Lavar(assuming he actually "plays") or Clemons at the Will, Marshall at the Mike and Washington at the Sam.

And I would have beaten Lavar down if Fent, security and the thousands of fans hadn't of stopped me

If we tried to get him, then our guys must be all over the cap situation. Should give some relief ot all the people worried about us having to clean house to get under the cap.

Yea, in another thread, they're saying the new CBA will allow for a cap at $102-104 mil THIS YEAR?!?!?

Say HELLO to Johnny A and say GOODBYE to Ramsey and others...

The Skins would still need to dump 8-10 million to get under the cap and an additional 9 million more to get Abraham. I don't think its happening.

I'd pass on Lewis for 5-6 Mil a year. He's old and injury prone and not half the player he was a few years ago. That would also be a ton of money to spend on a 2-down backer. I like the idea of consistency at the defensive play calling position so Marshall should stay at mike imo.

I think that Lemar Marshall is the best MLB that we have had in a long time. He is verstile and can play outside. We don't need another big contract guy who is at the end of his career. ie Michael Barrow.

i hafta regretfully agree...god i want lavar to be a beast and succeed as a skin, but marshall, lewis, washington i believe is a better combination, but i dont think we can afford to go after lewis seriously and i think this rumor is stated just cuz its the skins, every team im sure offers soemthing when a team is guagein interest...it just so happens that the media is infatuated with the skins offseason so any hint of a big move gets attention (see the john abraham rumor)

I don't see Ray Lewis as much of a force anymore. I'm sure, if he stays healthy, he'll still be a beast, but where I see LaVar improving and being a long-term Redskin, I don't in Ray Lewis. Lewis would be a quick fix, and a pricey and risky one at that.

I agree with you except Lavar Washingotn and Marshall is a better lb corp. Look at Marshalls numbers at WLB they dont jump out at you. In just reading articles I hate that I can't quote them off hand but I still hear jokes by reporters of Dan Snyder firing up the jet and that the Skins throw money around frivorously. When since Gibbs has been here that is false but they still comment and I guess assume its true that Washington is in line to bid on every over the hill guy wanting one last big pay day. We have all learned never to sign a guy past their prime looking for one more big payday.(ie. Dana Stubblefield, Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier, Bruce Smith) I like Ray Lewis very much but as a dominating force for 16 games his career as that is pretty much done.

the smart thing to do would be agree to terms on a deal with Abraham before finalizing the trade so it wouldnt cost us 9 million...but most anything going around now is all speculation and assumptions, a new CBA and everything changes. Some teams dont really know what to prepare for just yet

At the Draft Party in 04 at Fedex Field, Lavar showed up right after Taylor was drafted and afterwards he was signing autographs and when I was seriously 5 feet away from Lavar, I yelled at him: "Drop your grievance Lavar!!!!!". He gave me look that said: "I will kill you". And he left, and when he got to a safe distance away, I yelled it at him again. I could have taken him if he tried anything The absolute highlight of it was the look on Fent's face when I did it.
