I like the Skins approach to spending their money on known quantities instead of on rookies.
Thats a fantastic point. There was a point in time when having a top draft pick was great, but now with the amount of money spent on them and the fact that the team's long-term success is basically in the hands of a 10 million per year rookie QB, having a high draft choice is not an enviable position

Incomes Spurrier,he like the other 2 coaches is ASKED what he needs to succeed.Unlike Gibbs he has no clue what it takes at this level. So he and our team are clueless for 2 years.Snyder gives Spurrier everything he thinks he needs and wants. After the 2nd season he flys to a nice florida golf course hides in a bush and phones in his resignation.
Enter Joe Gibbs
Snyder asks and delivers what Gibbs needs.
Since the 2003 season there are 15 players left from spurriers last roster.
QB PATRICK RAMSEY
RB LADELL BETTS
RB ROCK CARTWRIGHT
WR TAYLOR JACOBS
OT JON JANSEN
OG RANDY THOMAS
OG DERRICK DOCKERY-TENDERED
OT CHRIS SAMUELS
LS ETHAN ALBRIGHT
DE RENALDO WYNN
DT NIC CLEMONS
LB LEMMAR MARSHALL
LB CHRIS CLEMONS -TENDERED
CB ABE JIMOH -TENDERED
K JEFF HALL
3 are tendered FAs and could be else where.Ramsey,Taylor and Hall are rumored to be gone so more than likely there will be 12 players left from 2003 if we resign the 3 tenders.
Irresponsible? Not hardly.Gibbs is molding this team to his type of players.Funny thing about this cap hell they have been in,Snyder is still able to get what his coach needs and what we want..........A WINNER
Thanks for the reality check to all Haters out there.

Truth is we lost the following: Clark, Royal two starters who could be IMMEDIATLEY replaced with UPGRADES for better quality, commitment to long term and play making ability.

WE RELEASED players who had absolutely no major role on the Skins during the Skins tenure of the past 4 years, and would also offer the same for the next 4.

How that equates to getting rid of superior players, is beyond me.

I like your post and wish it was on the front page of the HR site. That way, instant Rumor zapping on the haters remarks, and takes the air out of us BASHING our players and screwing up their careers. ONLY people that like Peter King are fans of the same team he really likes and folks who don't keep up with football, but want to learn, wives, first time lovers of football, feminine men converting over to hardcore (geez that sounds like, never mind, but that's what happens when you think of PK) and folks who are on tour/travel in town for business, thinking they can fit in with football knowledge for each stop and a beer.

I was stunned by the petty nature of the criticisms and insults in the piece. He called Dan Snyder "fraternity brother". What exactly does that mean? I wrote pasquarelli the following email - i don't if it will get to him as i don't have a specific email address. Note my polite tone (I am hoping for an actual response).

Mr. Pasquarelli,

Quote:
I am writing in response to your article on ESPN.com "IMG going extra mile to broker big deals". I am a loyal reader of ESPN.com and your many contributions. To be fair I should also say that I am Redskins fan.

Your continued personal attacks on Dan Snyder have reached rather comical and sad proportions. There have been many rumours on our fan web boards about a personal animus between you and Mr. Snyder. I prefer not to engage in those discussions since I find them ridiculous but your articles continue to feed that perception. Every article about the Redskins (especially in the off-season) is negative. This most recent one includes the following quote: "fraternity brother Dan Snyder". What exactly is the point of characterizing the man that way? Obviously you meant it as an insult, I am just not sure what kind of insult you meant.

It seems to me that you and others in the media are stuck in a timewarp. You constantly harp on Mr. Snyder's inability to settle on a coach and bad FA signings. Yet the FAs you all always mention (Deion, George, Carrier -and they were terrible signing especially Deion) all took place in 2000. That was six years ago! Since then the record has been mixed to positive like most teams. Certainly the class of 2004 made up key elements of the team.

Then there is this quote: "each of the last two springs, Snyder has vowed publicly that the roster he has assembled will represent the Redskins' team for three years. Then the inevitable occurs. Washington doesn't win a Super Bowl, the roster is blown up" Could you please explain to me what you consider blown up? We have added 5 FAs and one trade while cutting no one of real value except for Lavar Arrington (I have NO idea what went on there but something doesn't add up with that one). So far I see a turnover of about 10 players out of a roster of what 45 or 50? And this is year 3 of Coach Gibbs tenure - all new coaches like to swap out players - why don't you look at how many players Lewis has turned over in Cincinnati or Saban has at Miami. I think that might give you some perspective.

There is no question he made mistakes when he took over the club and maybe he ruffled your feathers the wrong way but aren't you supposed to be the indepedent, objective journalist? Shouldn't you be able to report on what is going on without editorializing every time? LIke all people Mr. Snyder makes good decisions and bad decisions (his best so far is staying out of Joe Gibbs and Gregg Williams' way over the past two years) and I will be the first to criticize him when he acts badly (don't get me started on the parking fiasco that is Fedex Field) but your constant and now petty criticisms are making only you look bad. I suggest you re-assess your feelings and review your written work. You will see that they are bleeding through into your coverage of the team.

I offer this criticism without malice (and I am sure you could care less what I think) but because I like your writing and the sources you have which make for entertaining reading. I hope that you take it in that spirit.
