Wow, I didn't think they could match that deal after paying Alexander. They kept their man though. Wonder how much bad blood there is now between him and the organization. I recently read that he wanted to go to the Vikings.

Man, I was really wanting him to go to Minnesota as I do think Seattle will be our biggest competition in the nfc next season. I have to respect how critical his prescence is for their overall offense. It would have made their passing and running game that less effective. Maybe Minny can do something else.

I couldve sworn we did something similar when we stole Morton from the jets... promised playing time? Don't really remember... anyway, thats a big blow for minnesota since theres a real dropoff of talent at the guard talent after the hutchinson. Oh well, hes making some serious bank and I guess thats what really matters when you become a free agent for the first time in your career.

I wonder if they think about reaching and going after Dockery for the first. I want continuity but I will take a first for Dockery and draft a pure guard.

This opens up the ability for some cut-throat offer sheets.

More likely Hutch goes to Vikes
According to Mike Sando of Tacoma News Tribune (per KFFL), Hutchinson had to be the highest paid offensive lineman at the time he signed the offer sheet, NOT afterwards - such as when Seattle might match the offer - or the contract would be guaranteed. Because the special master ruled in favor of the vikings on this issue, it looks like the vikes will get Hutchinson.

Seems like you could make an offer sheet that has a clause, "if you are not the only offensive lineman with blue eyes then the team has to pay you an additional $100 million dollars." Or something ridiculous like that. The ruling opens up a can of worms, imo.

well. that huge pile of money has a way of soothing things... at the very least hutch has to realize how much the hawks wanted him, and he gets to stay on a team that went to the superbowl and retained alexander, hutch and rocky bernard.. they should be pretty good again..
