Default Should we draft a punter in the late rounds?

As I see it, with 7 picks, we really dont have space on the roster for that many players. Should we draft a punter in the 6th or 7th round? Someone that can compete with Frost and that can also kick off?

I think we definitely need a punter to take over for frost whether we get him in the draft or not. I don't see why we couldn't take a shot in those later rounds.

I don't see why not. A Punter drafted in the 6th or 7th probably has a better chance of making the active roster this year than anybody else that the Skins will draft at that point.

That's what I'm thinking.

Ray Guy says you're wrong!

What's the pronunciation on Plackemeier anyways, so I can shout for him in the 6th round. Is it plack-a-my-er?

I think it's pronounced play-a-ma-ker.

Hail yes! I'm all for it. We have a great challenger for Hall in Europe but we neeeeeeeeed someone to give Frost a run in training camp.

Well I think it depends on what the FO thinks of Frost..if they're satisfied with him I don't think we'll be looking at a punter in the draft..if they want some kind of competition then they might bring in somebody in the late rounds or after the draft..actually IMO there isn't really that much difference between somebody chosen in the 6th or 7th vs somebody brought in undrafted, especially for a punter..if there was somebody really really good they would probably be gone somewhere in the 4th round..

I don't know how they could be happy with Frost unless he was putting the ball where they told him. Many of those punts stunk.

At least the coverage teams were better last year. Let's hope this year special teams squad is even better. And a new punter would go a long way toward making that happen.

If we get a punter, check this guy out. Tom Malone from USC, he's had 51 of 153 punts go over 50 yards:

I think taking a P in the 6th or 7th would be a good idea considering the amount of picks at that point in the draft. I would have to think the talent at the P position would be just as deep as any position at the point.

Edit: If we do draft a P he will have to be capable of holding. I am not sure if we have anybody on the current roster, other than Frost, who holds. Maybe Todd Collins?

And how about Reggie Roby. I know he wasn't the greatest punter of all time, but I thought he was very good in his prime.
