Bigamy in the Empire State? [NY GOP admits insanity, commits self to asylum.]
This is top-notch comedy:
Quote:
The pitched battle to be the Republican challenger to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has turned nastier, with the campaign manager for Kathleen Troia McFarland, who is struggling to get on the primary ballot, accusing her opponent, John Spencer, of bigamy.
In an NY1 News interview on Tuesday, Edward J. Rollins, a top aide to Ms. McFarland, spoke of Mr. Spencer's personal history and his record as the mayor of Yonkers, dredging up marital infidelity and accusing him of nepotism.
Mr. Spencer has never denied that while he was mayor, he had a long affair with his chief of staff while he was married, and had two children with her before they were married.
"He runs around saying, 'I'm a good Catholic, I'm this, I'm that," Mr. Rollins said, adding that to "a lot of Catholics in this state, that's bigamy." Mr. Spencer was not married to both women at the same time.
Mr. Rollins added that the affair was "just the tip of the iceberg" and showed that Mr. Spencer "thinks he can lead a double life."

Nothing like a little Mormon Hold'Em to liven up a campaign.

I would have gone with the title Big Love in NY GOP....
The NY GOP is in a near state of panic as many of the entrenched government positions they have enjoyed over the last 12 years will be turned over under Spitzer. The problem has been Pataki has always been about only PAtaki and never built the infrastructure in place to take advantage of his incubancy. Pataki is eying national election and could care even less for NY then when he took office.

As long as he was only legally married to one, it is not illegal, though I'm just making an assumption, I don't know the laws in NY or anywhere else on this kind of thing.
It is definitely a good case for divorce but if it has gone on this long, with disclosure, even that may not be.
I have been trying to watch "Big Love" but I just can't suspend reality enough to enjoy the show. Without getting into all the discrepancies I see in the show, let me just say --as a husband and father of three children-- there is no way that guy could make all the wives happy, be successful and keep his sanity.

well...really he's not. His body is breaking down, the women are all unhappy, and his business is having troubles. I find it a very realistic take on the whole bigomy thing. everyone is a mess and the kids are suffering.
but then again he has sex with three beautiful women so good for him.

I understand that but my contention is how he made it this far. All that you mentioned happens in a normal one-on-one relationship, if he was able to get past it once, twice, three times, it shouldn't be a problem now.
I think some people fantasize about such a life. Me, I fantasize about having no responsibility again and being unshackled, so I guess I find the show wrong in my own way.
