Cap Question
I have a real quick question for all the cap experts at this site. Okay, we all know the Mike Barrow ended up costing a crapload of cap space (somewhere in the 5 mil range, right?), but I think we finally get that to stop counting towards the cap next year (2007 cap). But even worse dead weight is LaVar's contract. I know that it is going to cost us 7 mil this year, but will it cost us anything next year? Basically, does our cap figure go down by 7 mil this next year? I know that it actually won't go DOWN by 7 mil, but you get the gist of my question, is there any LaVar dead space counting towards the 2007 cap?
The reason I ask is I've got all these cowboy fans saying that in the next couple of years we'll be in cap hell. You know, the standard argument. But I wanna come back with bringing up the Lavar and Barrow figures but I just don't know exactly how much that saves us in future years.

Barrow probably didn't cost us much of anything against the cap. His signing bonus was 2.5 million pro-rated over 6 years, so subtract about 400k from that. Lavar is costing the skins about 7-8 million this year against the cap; so figure after 06, the Skins get back 10 million in cap room(roughly) from these two. Neither will cost anything against the cap after this year.

Since we did not release anyone after Jun 1 currently we have no Dead cap. This includes Arrington. So he will not count against the cap next year, and neither will Barrow. Barrow this year only counts 1.66 mil this year.
you can go here for the info.

Tell them that the Redskins have the best capologists in the league and know how to hide money and avoid major cap problems.
Then tell them that they have bigger things to worry about than our cap. Like the fact that their team is going to be torn apart by infighting between a WR and kicker.

Ask your friend to name one player that we have ever had to cut to stay under the cap.
As others have said, we have no dead cap currently for 2007. Any cuts made before June 1 do not get spread into the following year.
As far as cap space for 2007, we will probably be around $104 million at the start of free agency next year and the salary cap is set at $109 million. We'll have very few notable free agents to sign (Betts, Dockery and Clemons) and a roster that is very well stacked. Tell him to cram it up his cram-hole!

"Typical Redskins fan, can't admit that his team will be 672 billion dollars over the cap in 2007 because he's a too blind homer".

i hate when fans of other teams try and put down the redskins for how much money we spend. im just like "we're under the cap just like other teams have to be, dont be hateful because your team is 10 million under the cap and not maximizing its potential to sign competent competitive players". personally i dont care how much money the players make, i care more about what they do on the field and what they do to help the redskins win...
