The Skins seem to be interested in Jacobs' producing up to his ability while staying healthy this preseason:

Jacobs could have been released on June 1, but he said the Redskins told his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, they wanted to keep him.
"They told him they want to see me reach my potential and hopefully this year, I'll do that," Jacobs said.

Campbell progressing well and assured of extensive playing time:

"He looked good out there," coach Joe Gibbs said of Campbell. "He's had extra work and been here for every workout. Last year was a big learning curve and this year, some of the terminology is new, but he's worked extremely hard. He's going to play a ton in the preseason."

Jansen "feels great":

And Jansen is in the final stages of recovery from thumb surgery.
Describing his operation, Jansen said, "They had to basically repair the whole joint. They put some hardware in, lined things up and repositioned some things. It was a little involved, but it feels great now."

Rabach had a skin graft on his leg two weeks ago, and defends ATV accident in March:

Earlier this spring, Rabach suffered a major gash on his leg when his four-wheel overturned.
"Not even close in similarity," Rabach said of his and Roethlisberger's accidents. "I was doing yard work. I wasn't joy riding or goofing around."

i am getting the feeling that Jacobs is going to make it and the final battle will be between Thrash and Patten.

Jacobs is like a brand new penny... Looks great when you first see it and then it just dulls up over time. Jacobs has been the shinny new penny in every preseason and a lackluster dull cent in the regular season.

I agree, but I'd even take a step furhter and say that he is "shiny" in camp and practice. How much has he really done in preseason any way? Does anyone remember any big plays from him?

Yes and IMO this is our biggest concern with Brunell/QB situation being second. I keep hearing "Yeah but Brunell is your QB", but I gotta tell you, the lack of depth on the O-line scares the pants out of me.

i cant understand Jacobs. Champ Bailey said he was the best receiver on the team. Patten was quoted as saying he should be starting.

I don't. Patten is a better receiver and Thrash is a better team player because of his ST contributions. Jacobs needs to have an outstanding preseason to lock up a receiver slot over either of them. Especially Patten, I really don't see Gibbs dumping him after only half a season, especially with the premature IR decision and all.

Couldn't agree with you more. I keep hearing people talking about how old Brunell is too, but I just think about the line. We have great depth at most positions, but not oline and not for the defensive backs, although safety is improving. Hopefully nobody gets hurt and we don't need anything from a Jim Molinaro type, I think that great teams get contributions from unexpected places.

The history with Jacobs shows that he probably will have an outstanding preseason.

does anyone know how many receivers the Chiefs kept on the regular season roster last year?

The only thing that Jacobs has going for him right now is that he plays ST's and Patten does not. Other than that, Patten runs better routes and gets better separation than Jacobs.

i will be amazed if he makes the team.. but i guess, i may be amazed

i think patten will make the team. it just may come down to thrash and jacobs, and if it does, it will come down to special teams play because the number 4 and 5 receivers have to play special teams on vitually every team.
patten does not, so he needs to make it based upon game performance.

i dont know what to think. jeckyl and hyde is a good description for Taylor. another factor is that Patten and Thrash are both 31. if a young receiver like Jimmy Farris, Derrick Fenner, Steven Harris, Ron Johnson or Richard Smith is very impressive, i'd hate to see him cut for someone over 30 who might have only a year left. 1 or 2 of those guys might make the practice squad, but like we've said before, i fear our practice squad will be so talented this year that we will lose some of them to other rosters before the year is over.

I saw Alvin Garrett and Virgil Seay's very FIRST YEAR. They caught the ball and HOW! They did their BEST When Coach called the number - EVERY TIME!
It wasn't a non-chalant, oh well, it was OH S, if they screwed up, because thats' the way they played the game, like there was NO Tommoroow or promise!

I can't feel sorry for you, when I have seen hungry people coming off the street, with only bus fare (Brian Mitchell and Rock Cartwright), take the most needed moment and turn it into a home, at least to prove they could when counted on. Yeah they had DUH moments, but NOT BEFORE delivering some knockout punches!

i certainly hope jacobs doesn't push thrash out of spot, thrash may not be flashy anymore but he is reliable. I think gibbs likes thrash too much and he has proved he can produce. I just don't see how we can carry 53 WRs.
