Default curmudgeon's corner-- the old man speaks

man, it is tough being grumpy after a win like that.. talk about a season on the brink ? hard to remember too many sweeter than that one.. unless it was against an nfc opponent.. guess we will have to wait for next week for that..

what do i want to say ?

well, is it me, or is rock starting to remind me more and more of b mitch running those kickoffs back..? he has figured it out that the only way to go is straight up the gut.. and being as short as he is actually plays to his advantage because i do not think the defenders see him until he is past the wedge. 30 yards per pop is just fine with me.. just hold onto that pumpkin, please...

is there a more emotional leader on the skins than sellers? i do not think so. he lives to hit people. playing under just the least bit of discipline has turned him from a player to be fear by BOTH teams, into a player to be feared by our opponents.. he is classic old fashioned HOG

and the o line ? man, i thought i was really watching to HOGS.. vintage brutalizing of an opponent with the running game. loved it.. loved it every minute.. 1 more carry to convert that 3rd down with 2 minutes would have snuffed them out in regulation.. get duckett warmed up will you ?

not going to even mention moss except to say .. it is he and not s smith who is the most dangerous receiver with a ball in his hands in the nfl.. double coverage ? that is just 2 players who will look foolish on the tapes on monday...

nice to see them remember that cooley is still on the team.. and i do not care whether he went out of bounds or not, that last catch was as good as any fred biletnikoff made..

lloyd? he had 6 if brunell had put the ball accurately. but, you got to put the ball away when you catch it..

portis ? the man... betts... ran tough and i like him catching the ball out of the backfield even if i would prefer duckett get those carries..

good to see sightings of carter and arch on defense. continued fine work by golston, d evans and montgomery.. we are developing depth on the d line and it will pay off the later we get in the season.

not the greatest game by the linebackers.. missed some tackles, guys..
time to begin to get some rocky sightings please...

is there a tougher team to run against right now ? i do not see it.. BUT, our pass defense is way way too porous.. let's hope springs makes everybody several times better. can he do it? i expect rumph to continue to improve game by game and i think rogers and taylor will benefit immensely from his influence. wright ? well, he did tip a ball (i believe it was him) and he managed not to get flagged for pass interference this time.. i still feel knots in my stomach every time a deep pass is thrown his way.. burns? i only hope that doughty grows up enough to put him on the inactive list.. might not happen this year. fox ? nah...

so where to we go from here ? well onto giant stadium for our next huge game. if we can win, we should roll over the titans. so this is the time to put a dagger in L-L-H and the other clowns from jersey this week...

and jansen ? remember you own strahan and you have got brunell's back side... the solution ? run the ball another 35 times.... more on that later this week..

I tell you what, when the cameras were off and the goalline/extra point was over. The whole team came off the field, except Sellers. He was walking right down the middle of the field, waving his arms to keep everyone in the game. He did that constantly during the game. It was great seeing that excitement that only Marcus Washington can come close too. I think I am getting a Sellers jersey next, even if I have to special order it.

Haha I noticed this too. Why doesnt he ever go to the huddle? Is his job really as simple as blowing everything up and crushing someone? Sellars didnt care what the coaches said. He was out there making the crowd go wild. It was cool but I wonder why he wasnt in the huddle.

Nice post, shally. And, no, you are not the only one to see a little bit of B Mitch in Rock. Not just on the returns, but he's becoming quite the little punk too, lol. Right after the TD to Moss in OT there is about a half second shot of him getting in the face of a Jags player to apparently talk some smack. Little punk.

Maybe because he knows his job, the coaches trust him, and he needs to stay angury in order to take a couple of people's heads off.

he HAS to have a hole to blow up because portis has to know where he is going ? that is my point.. i think he is more disciplined now than we give him credit for. no way gibbs lets him on the field if he is not where he is supposed to be on every play, including special teams...

i just love the way he lives to hit.. got to say, if i am buying a jersey this year, it is sellers from what i have seen thus far.. \

and i just cannot wait to see the first time he runs over LLH next week...

At least he didn't knock a defenseless players helmet off and stomp on his head. What a maniac that guy is. He should be banned for that crap!!

i think there is a world of difference between blowing someone up cleanly, looking them in the eyes and running right over them despite their efforts.. to stomping on someone who is down.. that is just being a punk and it has no place on the field

absolutely. Trash talking is one thing, but that was just wrong.

I don't think anyone confuses Sellers brand of nasty, hard-hitting football with that scoundrel. One is focusing your energy and unleashing it on a poor defender during the game and showing them whos boss because you are physically dominant, the other is a cowardly shot on a player who fell down and can't defend themselves way after the play is over. It's just spineless and thank god he's suspended. But only 5 games, should be the whole season

Nice Post. I know your were especially happy with our interior line play, blowing people off the LOS. Holdman has been solid in run support, so I don't see Rocky in those packages. Where I hope to see Rocky 1st is in coverage. We have been getting burned by TE's and backs over the middle consistently, and I'm wondering if Rocky's coverage skills are a strong point in his game. I remember GW saying he gets of blockers well and after the QB, and I'm thinking, does that mean he doesn't cover well? It is only worth bringing him in if he can upgrade the position now. IMHO.

I am telling you that this ball was not overthrown. Watch the tape, you will see Brandon slow down on his route. Brunell threw that to a spot where he could have made a play if he was going full speed.

And yes, that is his 1 fumble allowed for the year...

Don't tell me that. I am trying not to despise Lloyd and he isn't making it easy on me. I really hope he and ARE make some plays this week b/c I think the Giants #1 key is to stop Moss.
