Default Leftwich Done In Jacksonville?

Quarterback Byron Leftwich will get a second opinion on his injured left ankle Monday, which could spell the end his season and possibly his four-year run as the Jacksonville Jaguars starter.

Agent Tom Condon said Leftwich will visit renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., after Leftwich was told by Jaguars team doctors that he wouldn't be able to play again this season.

considering that..

garrard got the jags into the playoff last season when leftwich was hurt

and when they went with leftwich in the playoffs instead, they got dumped

and when garrard came in for leftwich again this year, all he has done is win

and now leftwich is hurt once again..

i would say that leftwich has probably played his last game for the jags one way or the other

Maybe we can trade for another Jags QB? How about our 3rd... oh.

if leftwich is injured this often with that line you know he's not gonna last with our's. Rather play JC.

Note: I know you were kidding/proving a point

Back when Brunell signed with the Redskins, I had said we took the wrong QB.

I wanted David Garrard back then. Younger, with a better upside than Brunell.

Garrard has been very good coming off the bench-wonder how good he would be right now had they started him the last few years. I've been following his career since ECU, it's nice to see him finally get a shot even though it's only because Leftwich got hurt.

Garrard was a 4th rounder and I think that might have been the same year we took Ramsey in the first.

Anytime you hear of a player going down to see Dr. Andrews in Alabama, you know it is serious.

I don't think we need to get another backup QB, we need to save our cap space for other pressing needs. I could possibly see Trent Green coming here for the trifecta, but that would ONLY be at vet minimum.

We have too many other pressing issues that we can ill afford to meet what Leftwich will demand. And I am sure Jax will want a first day pick for him, and I for the life of me cannot see us giving up a first for Leftwich with Campbell in the wings.

My bet is that we go with Campbell, Collins, and someone else like either Trent Green or Brunell, both at a restructured rate.

The rumors have been flying about Leftwich possibly being done in Jacksonville for several weeks now, and that was before he got hurt. From what I was hearing, the injury was just the thing that the team needed to get the ball rolling.

Personally, I think bringing in T Green would not be a productive move. Yes, he knows saunder's offense and has been successful at running it but that would further undermine the drafting of Campbell. Green is a competitor and even if he came here at vet minimum he would want a shot at starting job. Your also going to have Brunell back, maybe at a backup role, considering that campbell officially takes over as the starting qb.
