Default Charity Dinner with Dexter Manley (Thread for SkinsGloryDays)

Hi there,

I was wondering if you might help bring attention to a charity dinner with Dexter Manley that is being auctioned off on Ebay on behalf of the National Prostate Cancer Coalition. I included the link to the auction below.

Please let me know if you help bring attention to this. Prostate Cancer affects one in six men and one in three black men. African Americans are 2.5 times more likely to die from the disease. Even though breast cancer and prostate cancer have the same incidences, breast cancer gets all the attention and double the research funding. Our organizations mission is to bring attention to the disease and fight for more research funding. We also screen more than 10,00 men around the country for free each year aboard the Drive Against Prostate Cancer. Thank you for helping to spread the word.

Warm Regards,

Good lord, I never knew those numbers. That is insane! Why isn't this getting more press, like breast cancer is getting? Men should take this issue to heart just as much as women do breast cancer.

I think it has to do with the exam for both cancers. The mammography is much less intrusive than the prostate exam. Guys are simply chicken about it...and put it off until too late.

Also, I keep hearing how something like 50%+ (?) of men over the age of 80 have some form of prostate cancer. Maybe that "ups" the average.

Either way...this seems to be a nice charity. Ebay auction up over 200 now...
