Vision Quest: Dear Santa....on the Blog!!!
Well I have been too drunk on Egg Nog to actually write an article this week so I turned it over to a special guest writer. My 5 year old imaginary son, Timmy. So here it is:
Vision Quest: Dear Santa
Now remember be kind. Timmy may be imaginary but he is just 5 and his emotions are real.

HA HA, I've only gotten through the first 2 paragraphs and people here at work are giving me weird looks and wondering what the hell I'm laughing so hard about! Good stuff...ok, I'll try and finish it now!

There is no way you can give the gift of a playoff run that you did last year, I understand that. Though if you could talk to the Easter Bunny about her gift she gave the redskins in March, Adam Archueletta, I would appreciate it. He is defective and I hope she has the warranty still.

That no more Bill Maas part is really important. He's like a lump of coal in the stocking every time I see him on TV.

Ok, I finished the entire thing and I have to say that was brilliant...definitely a good way to pass the time on the last day of work before Christmas!
It had everything, a great narrator in Timmy:
Quote:
|
He was so excited when Joe Gibbs returned to coach the team a few years ago. He skipped around the office and came home and immediately threw me in the air in joy. Of course, being imaginary, he forgot to catch me. Just because I am imaginary does not mean the pain is not real.
|
Several humerous shots at underachieving players:
Quote:
|
I don’t know who Warrick Holdman is, but I am pretty sure his middle name is a word that I can not use. At least that is what my Dad yells out every time he misses a tackle or is blocked by people smaller then me.
|
and finally, the always funny making fun of yourself in the 3rd person:
Quote:
|
Thanks Santa and I will try to keep my dad from eating your cookies again this year. He stays up late posting on a message board to all ends of the night and he gets hungry. I will bake them in the shape of vegetables and perhaps he will leave them alone.

That is really great stuff CNY!! Hilarious!! If you don't mind me adding one suggestion, I'd like to help Timmy by suggesting that Gibbs go for it on 4th down every now and then instead of being so freakin' conservative.

Makes sense to me, particularly when the score is such that the team needs a TD, the O line is playing well and the running game is great, the D is exhausted, your team needs the momentum and to make a statement, and the team is out of the playoffs.
