DVD Warning
Some of you probably already know this, but anyone else should be warned if they are interested in purchasing "The Two Towers," which will be out on dvd very soon. This is the lesser dvd and you don't want it. They did this last year with "Fellowship of the Ring." They put out a lesser version for about $20 and then a month or two later they put out a far superior dvd for more money. If you really love the movie you should wait and pay more for the deluxe version. The version out soon is a 2-disc set. The deluxe version will have four discs and will include lots of deleted scenes. I found these deleted scenes added greatly to my appreciation for "Fellowship" and I anticipate something very similar for "Two Towers."
This business of releasing inferior versions of a dvd, so that people will buy the damn thing twice, is pretty shabby, but apparently also pretty popular. Popular with the industry, anyway.

George Lucas did this with the original SW triliogy a few years back on VHS.
He put out a 3 tape box set and pitched it as the original version being sold for the last time. Then he released the Special edition after the movies were re-released. I bought both, not knowing that the Special Editions were on their way after buying the original.

Similarly, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Intake of alcohol, killing the slowest & weakest brain cells first, makes the brain a faster, more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Hehe Spence your gonna hate me for this but I love it for LOTR only. The reason is because the one out today (which I bought) is for casual movie goers that liked the movie. The collectors editions are for those who loved the movie and probably love the books, like me as well . I have friends who just bought the theatrical release because they thought the Collectors was too long. I think they are crazy but hey each to his own. Also both sets do not have the same special features. The one out today comes with the normal fluff you see in DVD's. The one in November comes out with stuff that only big fans of the movie will love.

When is it available for rent.
Off the subject, bt I've looked everywhere for "the replacements" on DVD and I can't find it. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Tex, I loved the books and now I love the movies. I cannot think of two movies I've enjoyed more than "Fellowship" and "Towers." I'd tell you how many times I've watched "Fellowship" on dvd, but I think the truth would embarrass me and alarm you. As for the books, I've read each several times. I've probably read "The Hobbit" 10-12 times. I wish they'd make a movie of "The Hobbit." It's a great story in its own right. Not as grand as LOTR, but funnier and lighter.

Same here Spence...These are my favorite movies of all time, no contest. The Hobbit actually would be easier to make because there was alot of action in the book. I think PJ will go back and do it someday. He has been quoted as saying he would. I have read LOTR more times then I can count and went to see both movies in theaters 10 times each. Yes you read that right 10 times.

They have it at Tower Records for $16.99
Best Buy for $19.99
Suncoast for $16.99
Circuit City for $15.99
I would call your local store(s) and see if they have it available...if not, you might be able to have them order it for you if you dont want it directly shipped to you...

THANKS ALOT!
I was even in a circuit city when I was up in Boston (in Burlington mass actually), and they didn't have it. The DVD geek hadn't ever heard of the movie either.
