Default Wp: JLC: Why the NFL Should Bring "Europa" Back to the US

I think JLC could be on to something. It would definately be a way for the NFL to make more money here in the states and it sure would help with the football withdrawls i'm having.

I like football in the autumn. I think we're all footballed-out in the spring. I need a break from it after following both college and pros for four or five months.

Just a note... I think JLC has been absent from his column for a couple of weeks because he just had a kid. That's why there hasn't been anything informative on there during the whole briggs incident. That article was posted by someone Cindy Boren.

That's a good point. I'm a baseball fan so that gets me through the long football break. Sometimes NFL Europe games pop up here on TV, and they seem entertaining.

Hey, Jason...

TOO LATE!

Folks on this board already made the exact same proposal two years ago, almost to the day.

http://hailredskins.com/vbforum/show...highlight=nfle

It's only a few posts but it spells out the ideas for NFLe as a spring league pretty well, I think.

I am with WarEagle. I think football in the fall is enough. The rest of the time can be spent following the draft and other offseason moves.

At one time, I thought spring football would be a good idea (since baseball and basketball don't interest me). But, there was spring football a few years ago with "minor league" talent. James (Ricky?) was the "star" RB for the Washington team. What a joke! I found the whole thing rather bland. The league flopped and died a deserving death.

If spring football is to be successful, it has to be of "major league" caliber. Since I can't visualize a second football season within the same year with "major league" talent, I think this idea is deader than Keith Richards' father.

It wouldn't work unless tickets, parking and concessions were at least half the normal price.
And that idea about having a home team that plays in 4 different stadiums simply wouldn't work. Nobody would call the team their own and thus there would be no real fans attending the games.

Anticipation is half the fun of the offseason. There are so many questions about your team before it even starts. Will the work together or fail like Oakland? Were the high draft picks worth their position in the draft and the money? Will the free agents make the team better or Worse? Can the Skins control themselves during the offseason? ETC.
