Huly's Got Photos!
I made an album of them. You can check them out here:

Hopefully it works. If it doesn't, blame Huly.

How'd you do that flickr thing? I've never worked with it and just joined. I seem to have organized them into an album, but I'm lost now.

A few of my better ones, assuming this works:

I assume the girl in the lower left with Sellers is his daughter. She ran up to him, waved her hand across her nose, and ran away.
I love the lone David Aldridge one too.

Actually, that was where I was at the whole time (4:15-7). When I got to the park, that is where no one leaning on that rail, so I made myself at home. About half way through I thought we had a decent shot of seeing the guys. I kinda wanted to walk down to the other end zone since that is where most of the offense was, but the RB drills were set up in front of us, so I stayed.
Next time I go though, I'll walk down to the other end, then around 6:15 make my way down to that spot
Apart of me doesn't want to go back because there is just no chance of it getting any better for me. Gibbs was RIGHT THERE! I heard him say, "Thanks for coming out guys."

Not mentioned in the blog, but I thought Mike Espy was making a lot of catches. He seemed to be a consistent presence when he was in. And the part about Mike Sellers was true. He was bowling through people.

Here are a few observations from Day 1 of Redskins Training Camp.
1) Cooley is slowly morphing into a clown. He had the hair with its own gravity well last year. Then the crazy shorts where an observant person could tell his religion from 20 yards away. Today, he had the Ronald McDonald socks. We really, really have to resign Cooley because I want to see how many Redskins he can get into a VW bug next year.
2) Jason Campbell was hit and miss. He has a really nice throw to Cooley, but he missed a few outs. His footwork does look a little better and he’s getting back quicker to release; however, he’s still a bit slow for my tastes.
3) Sean Taylor looked svelte and moved around really well. In fact, he almost had a pick. The key word is “almost”, which immediately led me to have flashes of last year. They found me about 8:30 pm rocking back and forth in the fetal position near the tree line.
4) Pursuant to the dropped Sean Taylor pick, I didn’t see one single tip or interception drill. Not one. Perhaps the NFL-record low 12 turnovers last year is a source of pride for some, but not for this observer. I was legitimately disturbed by this.
5) During punt receiving drills, both Shawn Springs and Fred Smoot got hands work fielding punts. Meanwhile, Carlos Rogers did not. This was also disturbing to me.
6) I saw Vinny Cerrato looking like Roger Rabbit standing next to Danny’s golf cart. I remember thinking how that golf cart is probably to Danny what a horse was to Napoleon.
7) About Chris Cooley again. I’m always impressed by how soft his hands are. He can take a bullet and reel it in without the slightest effort.
8) If I had to pick one winner on offense today it would be Tyler Ecker (88). He looked very fluid in his routes and had a nice catch down the middle for a TD in coverage. If he keeps this up, expect him to make the team as #3 TE and to push Yoder for the #2 spot.
9) Jon Jansen looks thinner and much more active out on the edge in pass protection. This is the best I’ve seen him in years.
10) Todd Wade is a huge man. He and Samuels pretty much owned the right side of our DL. Then again, I’m not sure exactly how much that’s saying.
11) Marcus Washington looked to be back in a big way. He had the best play on defense, going way up into the air to knock the ball away on a midlevel out.
12) Brandon Lloyd didn’t really look much better than last year. He was slow and sloppy into and out of his breaks. On a go, he turned around late and missed a ball that would have hit him in stride. I really want to say something nice about Lloyd, but he just can’t keep playing like this.
13) Moss and Randle El came to play. They looked crisp and elusive. Espy was solid but not spectacular. Bradford seemed to blend in with the other 1-something receivers.
14) Thrash is just a stud. He does all of that unappreciated stuff like chip blocks and drag patterns that are just vital to an offense. He had a really nice 7 yard gain doing just that, which I thought was a pleasant surprise on Day 1 of camp. It would be great to get another guy who can do that too.
15) Man, I love watching Portis play. He’s just so much faster than everyone else, it’s like they’re standing still. He caught a ball down the middle where he was looking back and adjusting to the ball while running away from a LB in full sprint towards him. I didn't see much from the other RBs, but Rock looked pretty good.
16) Unheralded rookie Chris Wilson (77) looked to be pretty quick at LDE. He was playing with the first team and he seemed to have an unexpected burst off the line. I’ll be interested to see if this continues.

First day of camp, everyone's timing is going to be a bit off. If he has these problems come the second preseason game, I'll start worrying. Did he do anything worthy of note though??? I see a couple of good plays to receivers (TD to Tyler Ecker), was that him throwing the ball???
Personally, I think it's going to take a couple of practices for him to take what he's been learning in the offseason and apply it to a moving situation, so I'm not concerned yet. After all, no matter how much time you spend in a classroom and on an empty field, you just gotta get the reps in.

Sean hasn't, to my memory, had a real problem with keeping a hand on the ball like Rogers, it's just good that he was in position. You'll have a dropped INT every so often.

That's true, but first day of camp. I can't imagine them not doing one all camp.

Did you see any work Rogers did???

Whoa, we gotta keep an eye on this Cooley character, he may turn out pretty good

All good things for this stage in the camp...

Speaking of DL, how's Griffin, Golston and Monty looking?

How was Moss' and ARE's chemistry with Campbell? Did they look good because they were running crisp routes or was it because they were connecting with JC?

Portis being back, to me, is almost as important as Campbell. We forget this is a run-first offense. I think Campbell will come along as he learns to apply what he's learned from Saunders and Lazor (is that his name?) into the game, but if Portis isn't his old self, we'll have a hard time getting that ball into the endzone.

If he can look impressive against our first team tackles, then I have hopes for him
Thanks a lot for the report! You shed a lot more light on the situation then that jabroni with Redskins.com and now I can sleep easier because it seems to just be some fixable things with Campbell and the rest of the offense looks pretty good considering it's the first day.

I deleted Firehawk's post with the blog from Gary Fitzgerald since there was already a link to it.
