Here is how I look at it: The point of offense is to score points. The Pats understand this. The Redskins don't. Ask yourself this: Would you be happy if the Redskins whipped up on some team 52-7? If the answer is yes then you have no right to complain about the Patriots [or anyone else] doing it to us.
Personally, I love the way the Pats play offense. I can't tell you how much admire their 'go for the throat' mentality. If the Redskins stomped the Jets 52-7 this week I'll be deliriously happy. I wish it would happen at FedEx so I could finally leave the building feeling as if I actually got my money's worth.
Play offense to score points or just leave your defense on the field. That's my view.

I know this Mike. I know him from another forum, which is why I welcomed him. He is a very knowledgeable fan and would make a great addition to this forum. I hope he checks us out more often.

This, apparently is the Gibbs/Saunders view as well.

If we do it by going for it on 4th down twice when up a ton and throwing the ball, I will not be happy. We don't have to worry about it though since Gibbs has more class than that.

look going for it on fourth down when up 38 in the 4th quarter, or 45 late in the fourth quarter IS running up the score. Whether we should stop them or not, it IS running up the score.
It's not like they were running draw plays or fullback dives either.
HOWEVEr, this in my opinion, is brought about because we have earned no respect, coupled witht he fact that the Patriots are on a missiion from God to destroy the entire nFL. We have our own selves to blame, I agree with that.
Still it IS running up the score and it made me lose a little respect for the Pats as an organization.

That's not the only reason we don't have to worry about that.

Why? As I mentioned earlier. If it was their 2nd stringers doing it, then fine. But not your starters. That's bush league to me.
Yes, if our starters can't stop their backups they deserve what they got. I just don't see the point in throwing for a TD already up 38-0. What's the point?
I've said it in past weeks that I wished we had that killer instinct. At some point a murderer knows enough is enough.

Yesterday when I watched the game I was more pissed about the running up of the score, and then I read this blog by Rich tandler

After the game, Gibbs said that he had no problem at all with what the Patriots did. He shouldn’t. In 1991, Gibbs’ Redskins had a comfortable 35-17 lead over the Falcons going into the fourth quarter. Rather than call running plays to kill the clock, Gibbs had Mark Rypien throw the ball. He threw touchdown passes of 82 yards to Gary Clark and of 64 yards to Art Monk. And these weren’t dinky passes with a lot of missed tackles and YAC. They were bombs away. That made it 49-17 and Andre Collins finished off the scoring with a touchdown on a return of Bret Favre’s first NFL pass. Nobody clad in burgundy and gold complained about the score being run up.

How could you not remember that game? Jerry Glanville cried like a little girl about us running the score up.
BTW, I'm seriously thinking of changing this thread title to the Crybaby thread. There is only one way to play and I would rather be unfairly known as a no-class winner than a classy loser.

Gibbs' class has created at .453 winning percentage. Very impressive. Meanwhile, during that stretch, Belichick has a winning percentage of .781. Hmmmm.

Not really. They send the offense out there with orders to run twice throw short of the first down marker on third down and then put. They don't even try to get first downs, which would at least help run the clock out.
