i dont blame the Pats. they have things they want to work on, so once they get up by 40 they just keep working, almost like a practice for them. they can put in some guys and let them run some gadget plays. it's not their fault that even the second string qb can get a td.

plus Brady is so intense, he was cussing his head off for a false start in the red zone while they were up by about 40. then he's calling a time-out to make sure they have the right play in there. they ran the fake spike play. they went for it on 4th down. they just dont let up.

they are embarrassing and humiliating players and coaches alike. it sends a message of intimidation.

Age (coaches and players) and injury history will guarantee this. After the game I marked up the roster and eliminated marginal players like Boschetti and players over 30 with injury histories. I have 22 players left. What we are seeing will be what we get.

I don't care that we were beaten so badly, and it's ok that the score was run up. Would Gibbs? No, but at the level of performance we showed going for it on 4th down to get some practice in is not something we should complain about. This was an exhibition game to the Pats.

That said, BB still managed to cheat. The line from the press box to the field didn't work, a regular occurence in this venue. I can understand running it up, but I can not understand cheating while you do it. Boo to BB and to the NFL gurus that allowed the Pats to use a fully functioning system because ours only partially functioned. BTW this means that Saunders wasn't calling the plays. Guess who was?

Do tell. What in the world do the Patriots have to work on?

It's professional sports. I have no problem at all with running up the score. Instead of being worried about that maybe we should have played with an ounce of pride.

I would much rather see Romo.
Plus I doubt Brady would do it, as I have read he is very selective in choosing endorsement offers. Plus I am sure he has heard the lore of the madden curse and think EA would really have to open their pockets to nab him as I get the sense that he doesn't care much about public recognition.

i dont get why Godfrey said:

"I hope we can see them again, definitely."

that's like saying "i sure do hope i run into that grizzly bear again, the one who bit my arm off and beat me with it."

i admire his competetive spirit, but i dont know what he thinks he would do differently next time, or if he didnt feel embarrassed enough until after the game to want to hurt someone out there (if that is what he was implying).

I'm over the class and running up the score thing (a day later), but I will (without anger) admit that I will laugh so hard if Tom Brady has a career ending Joe Theismann leg injury during a meaningless play in garbage time.

i just mean it's almost like practice for them. i agree when Belicheck said "what do you want us to do, kick a field goal?" that would still be running up the score, and they dont need to work on chip-shot field goals. they might as well work on their short yardage plays and keep the ball. i think it was actually more honorable to have given us a chance to stop them rather than slink off the field and get 3 points. we should have just stopped them on that play. its was like 4th and 2 i believe. but that's just an example. they have nothing to lose at that point, so they might as well keep working. although if it was me, i think i would have taken Brady out sooner.

this was the same issue after the boys game of running up the score.

if the team that is behind doesnt want the score to be run up, then maybe they should put in back-up players on D and take it easy on the offense.

Its not like they are gona stop playing defense so why stop playing offense.

I guess it could have been like the college OU-TexA&M game where OU was taking a knee on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and running on 4th to turn the ball over on downs. I think that would have been worse.

Funny, I only saw one professional team on the field Sunday and it, sadly, wasn't ours. Being a professional means doing your best when your heart isn't in it. Godrey is right, this isn't college; there is no rah-rah go team nonsense to get you fired up every week. You have to bring your A-game every week regardless of who you are playing. You don;t pay down to the competition when you play the Browns and you don't ease off when you are up 30. That is the disrespect to me. When you blatantly call off the dogs you are saying, "You can't play with us so I am letting you save some face." That is more patronizing and disrespectful than continuing to fight hard and giving the other team a chance to rise up and stop you.
