Gregg Remembered
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Gregg Williams finally called a defensive game like he would have in '04/'05. He was aggressive as all hell. He blitzed on nearly every down. He sent blitz after blitz after blitz at Grossman and Griese, and the defense finally looked like it did three years ago.
I hope this is a sign of things to come. This is what he was doing when we were all desperate to keep him on the staff at all costs.

I was giggling like a school girl everytime we blitzed!

he better keep doing it because our secondary Suuuuucks. Doughty is horrible, Eubanks and Torrence are so bad it makes me want to die. If Springs or Smoot miss serious time we are in serious trouble.
Better go with the he cant pass if he is on his back attitude.
But y0ou are right. GW called a decent game all around. I don't like that immediately after we go up 2 tds we give up 10 straight points, but we finally brought pressure and dictated terms to an offense instead of vice versa

he still got kinda passive at the end (okay, he was making them milk the clock down... and landry should have had the game clincher)
but FG's represent decent defense.. and both berrian and hester are scary fast (wouldnt berrian look good in burgundy next year ???)

i think doughty has promise as a Strong safety.. and how scary was that for eubanks to be locked up on hester ?
i think torrence tackles well, so i am not as down on the secondary as some

sorry not with you on Doughty...But I am being consistent, I have never really likd his game. Slow and small is no way to play safety in the NFL.
Eubanks really is disappointing me because I thought he could be a future nickle in the league. Torrence is fast and can tackle, after he lets a guy get a first down.

doughty can tackle, but i agree he looks marginal at best..
torrence is going to get better and he will stick as a nickle at least.... eubanks looked lost or beaten most of the time but maybe his hammy is still not right ??
still hoping westbrook makes a leap in the off season

I think Doughty had a good game tonight and said so in the game thread. I'm not sold that he can't be a starter in this league. He showed me something tonight in a game that asked a lot of our secondary.

he does like to hit people and his tackling looked secure
he cant have been getting very many reps up to the last couple of games, and there simply is no way for anyone to fill sean's shoes..
he is going to have to make up for his limited physical ability with smarts

I wish all of you would get off his back in the first place. He blitzes QB's when he knows they can't hurt us. He isn't gonna blitz Favre, Kitna, Brady. He will blitz Grossman, Clemons, Griese. See a pattern???

Well Sean is gone, and he was the whole reason we could play that soft zone. So he has no choice but to blitz.

Oh, believe me, it hasn't been hard to see a pattern for most of the season when he literally called the same play every snap.

WE GOT PRESSURE. Wow. That's what it looks like when we pressure a QB. Can we please do it again?

IMO this is dumb logic. Favre makes mistakes when he's blitzed, so does Kitna. These qb's are also known for picking you apart when they get time.
