Speaking of McDowell..Skinner is listed as the driver of the #00 for next week's race in Michigan. Hmm....wonder what is going on there...
I suspect he will always be known as "that guy who wrecked really bad during qualifying".

I think my boy Carl is going to build great momentum for the chase.

I agree. He should be the odds on favorite to win this weekend at Michigan and at California in 2 weeks. The guy is a stud at those intermediate tracks. Plus he will need some more wins if he wants to chip away at Kyle's point lead in the Chase. Kyle already has a 50 point buffer, and there is a good chance he wins one more before New Hampshire.
Its hard to believe there are only 4 races left until the Chase. Daytona didn't see all that long ago...

Some news updates...
- Truex is resigning with DEI. (LMAO)
- Logano will debut in Cup at Richmond, and race about 6 races to keep his rookie status intact for '09.
- Rumors have Clint moving over to the #33 at RCR to drive the GenMills/Cherreos car...with Mears taking over the #07 Jack car. (Bad sponsor deal for Clint, IMO)

It really through me for a loop to hear the announcers say that Kyle had clinched the Chase lead Sunday. This season is flying by.

This crap better not start showing up on the Sprint Cup side of their business...

Upset at JGR or upset at the severity of NASCAR's penalty?
I think the penalty was just. Its too bad that Dave Rogers had to ruin a close-to perfect season for the #20 with a stupid decision like this. He won't get to show his stuff for quite a while. He has been the hottest crew chief in all of NASCAR this season. What a shame. I 100% believe Joe and JD didn't know anythying about this, but I guess that means they will have to keep a closer look on whats going on at their Nationwide teams. Shame...
Also, I heard on the radio that Tony is going to recruit Darien Grubb from HMS to be his crew chief. Some of you may remember this is the former Hokie who stepped in for a suspended Chad Knaus and won a handful of races with Jimmie 2 seasons ago.

At JGR. The only part of the penalty I don't agree with is the driver bit, as this was after inspection.
I hope the guilty party gets thrown out on his ass.

Dave Rogers and the 18 crew chief both admitted it was their dishonest call and took full responsibillity. Its a shame, because it was pretty clear that they were grooming Rogers to be the crew chief of their 4th car in '10.
I PREFER the drivers to get penalized as well. Nothing sends a bigger message to these teams than having pissed off sponsors. If a driver gets docked points or (even better) suspended a race for a team violation, you better believe the brass at that organization will be called by the sponsor for an immediate and lively "chat".
If you want to cut out the cheating in the sport, you have to hit the teams where it hurts the most. Sponsorship relations.

I have no problem with docking drivers when a car fails inspection. The driver should be held responsible for being inside a legal car.
The issue to me is the fact that the cars were legal. They were declared legal. Someone played with them after inspection but before the dyno. The driver shouldn't be held responsible at that point.

The driver is part of the entire team. If the driver throws out an F-bomb on TV, the entire team gets hurt with owner point deductions. So if someone else on the team breaks the rule, the entire team, including the driver should be penalized. Plus, as a JGR fan does it really matter? Tony and Joey aren't anywhere close to the top of the Nationwide series and taking away points from them doesn't hurt them a bit.
Again, my opinion on this subject goes back to the fact that cheating by the crew chiefs/team members should decrease if the drivers are penalized alongside them.

It's the whole Logano and Stewart on probation. This had absolutely nothing to do with them. Basically what nascar just told the drivers is that after your car is declared legal, you still have to follow it around if you don't want to get in trouble.
