June Jones resigns as coach of Hawaii
Wow, and Hawaii goes back to the land of the irrelevant.

June Jones, who has been the Warriors' coach since 1999, has resigned, according to a report by The Honolulu Advertiser.
The report says that Jones told his close friend, Al Souza, of his decision Saturday morning. He cited lack of loyalty and commitment from the athletic department as reasons for his resignation, the report says.

the program has definitely peaked.. he will find a program in the mainland to coach.. second tier team like baylor or smu or duke but with exposure and
an opportunity to play on a larger stage

I heard last week that he was the leading candidate for the SMU job. I joked with the wife, "why in the world would he leave paradise for SMU"? Then I thought Colt Brennen was graduating...

Add to it the fact that in Hawaii's best year, they get smashed by their only real competition and he realizes he's hit the ceiling there.

I saw the article on yahoo, and was like, wait, did he resign, or did he re-sign? They should've used "from" instead of "as" in the title, it was confusing. Either way, I'm glad that Hawaii is going to fall off the map again. Having them in a BCS game was a disgrace.

I heard on the radio that he hasn't ventured outside of the state for a recruiting trip in 3 years. Top flight players just won't live so far away from the states and have to endure those long flights to and from games.
I also heard SMU is looking to pay him big bucks to prop up their program.

You can bet he'll be coaching somewhere next year.

I just hope it's not for the Redskins.
