Vision Quest: Give Me Spags!
I finally weigh in with a new VQ article about who I think our next coach should be:
Vision Quest: Give Me Spags!
Let me hear it below.

I would much rather have an "unknown" with something to prove over the retreads, especially Fassel, who I think will not be the ultimate answer.
That said, I can't possibly see how Spags could work here based on the fact that Blache is already in place as DC. It's obvious there could be differing opinions between the two when it comes to their basic theories of playing defense. I just don't see how that pairing is going to work. One of 'em would have to change, and it won't be Spags.

Great read Dustin and I agree. He is the best candidate for us considering everything. HE is the main reason they won the super bowl besides Manning.

After watching what the Giants defense did to NE, I agree.
The one thing that stood out in my mind during that game was, "We couldn't have done this to the patriots team this year. Our D was just too soft to play this brutal against the patriots." Quite frankly, that's what happened in the SB, the giants D brutalized the patriots, smaking them at every chance they got. That's a mentality. That's something that is passed through the coach. They walked into that game with a 'smack em in the mouth' mentality and that's the type of mentality we need to have.
If we were in that game we would have played soft coverages all night long and got eaten alive. Spag blitzed at the right times, covered at the right times and just plain out did the right things at the right times enough to win the game.
After watching that game, I would welcome Spags. I have never been a fan of Fassel, GW or Mora taking over. This seems to be the best option out there to me.

I would imagine Blache would be a little more deferential...he was to Williams. Also I don't see much difference between the Chicago D under Blache and the giants D under Spags. both believe in the front four and getting pressure and being aggressive.

It would, of course, have to be Blache. He would have to change and I don't think he would have a problem with it.

And that mentality and fire is why I want him. We need a coachwho is going to get i the player's face and challenge them to give more before they are facing playoff elimination

Spags would be a worthless hire if we don't follow it up with a re-committment to acquiring quality Dlinemen.

I am with you. I want a coach who is going to build everything around the Offensive and Defensive lines. I think Spags would do this.

i would hope that the HC who prospered with a great d-line would recognize that ours is not completely up to par and that the front office would heed the HC's call to upgrade the ability to create pressure with the front 4.

Well I agree with that, but I think with the 3 headed monster that our front office is Spags would have the input to get dline, From all accounts they followed GW's recomendations on what they needed on defense and went out aand got what he needed. With a young DE to overtake Daniels and in the next year a good young DT we could really have something on the line if Carter can progress

he should just start stacking benjamins on the desk and tell Spags to say when.

The Redskins would be a worthless team if they didn't re-committ to acquiring quality defensive linemen...no matter who the head coach is.
