Unhappy wally kleine dies

sad day for redskin fans

former number 2 pick, wally kleine, DL out of notre dame passed away today

he was only 43 and died of heart failure. he never lived up to his anticipated promise and only was with the team for 2 years.

prayers for his family

Very sad indeed. My condolences to his family, which as I recall includes former NBA player Joe Kleine.
He was actually drafted by us as an offensive tackle.
As I recall, he was 6'9" and 320 lbs., and Beathard
thought he'd project well to left tackle. After it became
clear that he would not succeed there, Beathard lucked
out because Al Davis came calling looking for Jay Schroeder,
and Beathard fleeced him out of Jim Lachey AND a 3rd-round
pick. Those were the days when our FO would sometime fleece other people in addition to sometimes getting fleeced themselves.
I wonder if Vinny recruited Wally to Notre Dame? I don't know if Vinny's tenure at ND as a recruiter overlapped with Wally Kleine's career there.
