Default Parcells on Cooley

yet another post from the blog i linked to earlier, but according to Cooley, Parcells told him he would take him in the 6th and that he didn't see him as a starter, but a guy that would be lucky to be a career special teamer.

Quote:
My mind drifted back to a trip to visit the Cowboys. Everything was great until I made my way into Bill Parcell's office. After sitting down, the first words out of his mouth were, "I'll be honest, the reason you're here is because we like you as a special teams player. I don't think you'll ever be a starter in the league. We're thinking about taking you around the sixth round." I'm a pretty confident guy, so I walked out of the office with my head high. I did a great job and blocked out the trip, but by the middle of round three I was dying.

Or the Girls. Hopefully he's a grudge-holder.

Cooley Rules. I especially liked the comment about the 35-7 beating of the Cowboys where Cooley had 3 TDs and the picture of Parcells with the scoreboard in the background. Finding out what Parcells said about Cooley on draft day certainly makes that victory all the sweeter.

I thought Cooley would be special in his first season. I bought his jersey before he started.

I'm sure meetings like that with Parcell's just drives players to excel, as he did in that game.

"Special team player, I'll show you a special team player!" or something like that.

Hey everybody makes mistakes and Parcells made one here. I thought Cooley would be a good player from the moment we drafted him. After reading about him and seeing his highlights I understood why we traded up to get him. Thanks Gibbs.

As a Skins fan (for 24 years) I worked at a college where the Giants had training camp. Bill Parcells is a blowhard, the guy is no more genuis than I am (and I'm no genius). He wants people to think he's all knowing and unapproachable.....c'mon.....the guy couldn't carry Joe Gibbs' water! I hope Jason Taylor accidently runs over this guy on the practice field. Tool!!! Ummm..Hail!

On the positive side.....I'm glad Cooooooley is a Redskin! I think he is a "core" Redskin and it's ironic Joe Gibbs chose em'. Cooley wears the colors well! Hail!

What has Parcells won when he's had the ability to "Shop for the groceries"?....Or without Bill Bellichik for that matter?

I thought Cooley would be good when I saw film of him and saw his production. And then he starts playing and very early on it was obvious the kid is special he's an absolute monster as a competitor.

I'm always intrigued by guys who are good run after the catch guys that to me more than anything reveals your competitveness. And on tape he had it.

Anyone can play in an open college system and catch balls for yards and go down or score. But that RAC reveals something more.

Parcells can't take heat from this he's found gems no one believed in as well so it happens with evaluations.
