Skins vs. Bears: Epics of the 80's
This was just a well-written, entertaining read IMO...some cool championship history... things that the Eagles, and other NFL non-champions can only dream about

That was a lot of fun but Scarlet and Gold? Seriously, we have been in the NFL since its inception, won 5 championships, and people still can't get our colors right?

Good Lord, I practically cried all the way through this article....
I know the young ones here hate how us old folks go on and on about Gibbs (I) because we haven't been back to a SB since, but holy cow that was a great article for reminiscing!
"Skin corner Darrell Green and Bears Wide Receiver Willie Gault" What a match up!
"On the flanks, Covert was battling speedy Dexter Manley, and Van Horne wrestling with Mann. Dent tried to race around the mammoth Jacoby.
Butz battled Bortz and Becker.
Payton tried plowing past Olkewicz."
Can you all remember Payton that day...I almost wished he'd made it...almost
Darrell Green ripping his rib cage and still flying over that guy...like yesterday...makes me happy I'm going to Canton!
GREAT FIND!

I think Chicago might be our most meet opponent in post season play ever. We played them in 4 NFL Championships, won 2, lost 2.

The 1984 Playoff Game was a major wake up call and Joe Theismann's last
The Redskins' offense could not move that day. The Bears could barely move. Their quarterback however was able to take advantage of the Skins single man coverage and made a few plays.
I will never forget that feeling of defeat as Joe T threw pass after pass into the ground. No rushing, no passing.
The day started off on the wrong foot (literally) when Ken Huff broke his leg in the first quarter. MayDay had to line up at right guard. They put Mo Towns in at right tackle to cover Dent. Bad move. Mo was a great guy in his day but could not cover a speed rusher like Dent. The whole offense was totally screwed after that mismatch...further Calvin Muhammad was brutalized and could not complete the game. He was overwhelmed, wasn't even running anything close to a pattern. It was his last game as a Redskin.
The bright spot was that the Skins realized then and there that they needed depth at O-line; they brought in Simmons, McKenzie and others. They got some db's, said goodbye to Joe Washington, hello Gary Clark George Rogers and basically set the stage for the great teams of the 1986-87.
The next time they met the Bears in the playoffs they kicked them to pieces.

Can we sign it to a contract that would be one hell of a receiver
