I would love to see what Mason can do against real NFL players but alas, the people that are making the decisions don't agree with us. I think we could do worse than soft serve though. It doesn't hurt to take a look at him.

Exactly, this is not the end of the world. He will be brought on at the veteran minimum and we would get a system experienced back for next to nothing, if it doesnt work out than you cut him a week or two later and sign Mason, theres no risk here.

alexander's best days are clearly behind him, but he is not a BUM.. never was. classy person who was an elite RB for quite of few years.

he will cost more to sign than mason for certain, but he wont have as much tendency to make mental mistakes because he is totally familiar with the system.. zorn said during preseason that mason made mistakes, but made plays in spite of those mistakes.. more than anything, i think that was what cost him a roster spot..

if zorn wants alexander over mason, that makes the decision..

Sorry, but the fact that nobody wants ole Soft Batch Cookie dough is a pretty clear indication that he shouldn't be signed here. Any Back-up RB has the potential to be the main guy after one bad luck play. So please, it's not solely about envisioning 5-7 carries vs 10-15.

Mason is in Football shape. That trumps any "working out" Alexander has done.
Mason is in football shape but he was cut. If he was so good he would have made the roster right? He wouldn't have got caught in the "numbers game". Alexander has proved he can run at the NFL level. Mason showed he was good against 2nd and 3rd team defenses.

decision by this evening

what makes it complicated is the number of teams looking for runners right now

For the record though, while I think that there's nothing to lose by signing Alexander, I'd prefer to sign Mason now. I just think there's much more upside there and long-term potential as well.

That's not to say that S.A.'s immediate impact would be greater than Mason's either as I think Mason comes in with just as much, probably more, motivation.

In his defense, I'm pretty sure he was a "baller" behind 2nd, 3rd and 4th string offensive lineman.

Exactly, why are Redskins fans so for the Jesse Lumsdens of the world? Doesnt everyone think if Mason was so good the Ravens would have put him on there 53 man roster instead of the practice squad?

I think don't think this game is somewhat important, I think its crucial. Every game needs to be considered as such as this point. We are one game from first and one game from last in our division, every game matters a lot.

While I think it would be stupid to look past what happened Sunday I think there's something to be said about over analyzing it as well. I don't think we are now a team exposed, frauds for winning the games we did. No, we beat ourselves making dumb mistakes. The Kendall one especially is something I cannot imaging ever happening again. I think we are much closer to the team that beat Philly/Dallas than the team that turned the ball over 3 times vs one of the worst defenses in the league.

Regroup, stay focused, and prepare for the next opponent. Don't play scared or consider the offensive unit some fragile creature on the brink of imploding.

Watching Sportscenter: Clayton says S.A. took a red-eye in he's so excited to get worked out by us and that Clayton's sources said that if he show's good burst and quickness during the workout he's on the team.

of course he's excited.. no one has signed him yet and he is going to try out for a team where the HC remebers his glory days.. if zorn doesnt want him, he might be done in the nfl...
