The first 199 laps was a snooze fest...while the final lap was pretty exciting. Overall....I still dont like this track. While there are several passing groves, the field still spreads out too quickly and the leader rarely gets tracked down.
Thank God for next weekend's road course race. Can't wait to see how the double-file restarts work out on this track!

I hate Michigan. The most boring race of the year. Along with California and Texas as a close second.
Let me add how excited I am for Mark Martin. It's great to see MM winning again.

Here's the fatal in the Mexico NASCAR race over the weekend. 1 min. He doesn't have a chance.

Unfortunately it takes accidents like this to improve the safety of this sport. I believe it was Jeff Gordon who hit a similar inside wall last season (I forget the track) and 1 year later they installed the safer barrier. But the
Just from looking at the Youtube angle, it appears the driver was turned by someone else. Assuming the bump was intentional; that has to lay a fairly hefty weight on the driver who did it.

I always thought it was rediculous to have heavy duty trash cans full of water as protection on those type of barriers. There has to be something better fit in those situations.

So glad Infineon is here. I love this track.
Just caught part of practice and Martin, Jimmie and Jeff are all top 9 in speeds right now. Junior is 43rd. Ouch.

Very enjoyable race yesterday. I LOVE the double-file restarts on road courses. Pure energy on every re-start. Again, I give lots of credit to NASCAR for listening to its fans for once. Kudos to Kasey for holding off Tony on the final 20 laps. Tony was able to beat him into the corners but Kasey was much better exiting the turns.
RUMOR - Per Sirius Speedway, its appears Kasey Kahne will drive a toyota as early as mid-August. he will continue to drive for RPM, but in a Toyota. Sorenson's #43 will continue to be a Dodge. Apparently Dodge owes RPM a good deal of money since they cut their manufacturer's financing and RPM simply can't afford to run the car as-is. Very wierd.

Not NASCAR related...but I'm headed out to RIR tonight to watch IRL practice and pole qualifying. There is also a USAC National Sprint car race afterwards which should be fun to watch those midgets race on RIR's 3/4 mile track.
The IRL is holding an hour long autograph session tonight in between qualifying and practice. (as if the drivers didn't have anything to do for that hour? Geez) If the lines are not too long, I'll make my attempt at meeting Danica or Hellio. If that doesn't pan out, I'll just walk around looking for Ashley Judd.

So, I stood in line for an hour and eventually met Helio. He is a really nice guy and you could tell he was appreciative of the support from his very dedicated fanbase. Only Danica's line was longer; and I did get a quick glimpse of her. She is certainly HOT.
This was my first time watching an Indy car. Damn, do they move fast! They look like toy cars moving in fast-forward. And the sound is so different from stock cars. We watched IRL practice and then caught a few laps of the midgets before jetting early. Still always a fun time at RIR...

Read this...

This guy is always a solid source for rumors. He was the one who broke the rumor of Eury Jr. getting the boot from the #88 2 full weeks before it happened.
Basically; he says Danica Patrick will go to Hendrick...drive the #88...and Junior will move over to JR Motorsports to do another satalite team similar to Stewart/Haas.
That would create some AMAZING drama. I'd love to see that! lol

I don't know. There wasn't a Ford in the top 17 either. Interesting race, for sure.

I was asleep (stupid midnight shifts) so I didn't see the race.
I guess Joey won't have to worry about the fan vote next year. lol
How bad is Jr? Logano has a win this season and is only about 30 points behind him. lol

Man, those NH ticket holders have it bad. Last year's race ended short as well...
Glad to see the HD back in victory lane, but it will be nice to see him actually race his way there in the near future. He has been displaying some serious talent in the N'wide series, and it will be a matter of time before it translates to Cup.
Anyone notice that Bill Weber was missing from the broadcast yesterday? The guys on Sirius this morning said he was suspended for the race due to an "altercation" during a poker game with fellow TNT staff. lol. I hope he gets reinstated soon because his replacement was a bit over-the-top. He reminded me of the guys who do the commentary for the World of Outlaws broadcast.

I'm not a Weber fan at all. He's better than the fox crew, but a retarded monkey flinging crap at the cars is better than the fox crew.
