Default We Just Got a Whole Lot Younger on the O Line

just in case it escaped notice.. in one week we just got a heckuva lot younger on the offensive line.

now, please notice i didnt say we got BETTER. That remains to be seen over time. and by no means does it indicate that the rebuilding job is finished--at least the front office better not think it is and take their eyes off the ball. between the roster, PS and IR we now have the following redskin players with their respective years of experience

Roster

Heyer 2 yrs
Rinehart Rookie
Clark Rookie
Batiste 2 yrs
Montgomery 3 yrs

IR

Geisinger 3 years

PS

Riley 2 yrs
Ross 1 yr

keep in mind that the roster still includes all the graybeards including Thomas, Rabach, Fabini and Jansen so exactly who sees the field is still very much an issue.. but at least the team has finally taken a positive step with an infusion of young players for Bugel to work with every day (obviously not including the IR players) , and to hopefully groom into solid reserves or replacements in time

Younger, yes. Composed of talent, the vote is 31teams to one against.

Our depth has gotten younger, but our starters this week will still be old. My understanding it will be Heyer, Kendall, Rabach, Thomas and Fabini. My guess is Reinhart is next in the game at any position other than center.

Word is Vinnie is cruising high school parking lots looking for a few more O-line prospects. At least that what he says he is doing out there...

i think they should bite the bullet and get reinhart in there. especially against cincy.. see what he can do at R tackle.. if heyer looks solid, i think it is the ideal time

James Harrison for the steelers was plucked off of the Ravens practice squad.

Sort of proves my point. We got Bostic when the Iggles tried to sneak him onto their PS, a move Veremeil said he regretted when the Skins grabbed him (recognition of talent by more than 1 team). Jacoby got Buges eye immediately to the point he lied to (misled?) Gibbs about whether Joe was on O or D (immediate recognition of talent, never exposed subsequently). The guys you lited have for the most part been available for 2-3 years. QED.

As I understand it, Jacoby was drawing a lot of interest from Dallas and Buges, et al managed to convince him that they were going to make him a d-lineman and that was what convinced him to stick in DC.

the story gets better with each passing year..lol

from what i have read, it was gibbs who had to be convinced that Jake had worth as a D lineman, and so Buges was able to sneak him onto the roster

I saw more "emergency signings" here rather than anything having to do with grooming youth/talent.

it does seem like that's the case but hey, at least we're getting younger, albeit, due to injury.
