The Redskins are like an abusive spouse. No matter how much they hurt me, I stick with them (they'll change, they said they would!).

Que the Sunday afternoon special lol...

What I mean is I wouldn't root for them anymore if say, they became the Albuquerque Redskins. I would have my memories of the team but the history would be tainted. I believe Johnny Unitas is listed as an Indy Colt and that is wrong.

I'll be honest. This is the closest I've ever came to giving up. I never thought in a million years I'd feel this way about my beloved Redskins. But now that I have three sons, one 12 and two babies, my time and money could be better spent than getting upset with what Snyderetto is doing to one of the most proud franchises in entire NFL. It disgusts me to no end.
Hard to believe I used to defend his arse around here. That ship sailed two years ago though. And until he hires a GM or someone who knows what the hell they're doing, I will not support his bank account. Especially with the economy the way it is.

I'm not going to stop being a fan.
That does not mean I'm not going to rip these idiots a new one every chance I get.

the general sentiment i pick up on in this thread is that we all innately understand that this fandom is not akin to a lightswitch which can simply be turned off at will. it's not that simple.

Could never turn in my fan card, but a 6-10 or 5-11 season next year would be completely demoralizing.

I will always be a Redskin fan (hence my screen name). However, I am starting to believe that it will be a long time before we sniff another SuperBowl. Snyder is proving to be a young and foolish owner. There are a lot of great things he does for charities but as far as him running a franchise he gets an F. I don't think he has the guts to hire a real GM and let them run the team the way they see fit. Maybe things will change but I seriously doubt they will. I have learned to accept failure but it hasn't stopped me from rooting for the team I love. I'm a lifer. HTTR!

I wish I could turn my fan card in I really do. But it would be akin to stalking an old girlfriend, I'd be in the bushes watching the Skins through neighbors windows , I would be standing in electronics sections of department stores watching them, then I would just eventually sit down and watch a game and cry afterward mad at myself for falling back in.
But they are pushing me to the extreme edge with current developments they really are, I don't wanna become one of them hyper critical critic fans I see from time to time but i can see myself moving in that direction.
I'm fed up up with managment and ownership.
but the love affair has been too torrid for too long to turn in my fan card.

I find this level of detail about stalking disturbing, lol.

I think DJ is getting a little sensitive about people proclaiming outlandish things out of disgust. With that said, I agree with hogs here.
Its like the pretty girl that you know is going to rip your heart out...over...and over...and over. You may dump her and date someone more safe, but that doesnt make you love that pretty girl less.
To my point...no one is truly capable of "turning in the fan card". However, Ill be spending a lot less time WASTED on these bums from here on out. Im turning in my FO card.

I agree.....I will always be a fan but don't look for any excitement from me for a long time esp if they pick sanchez...i just don't agree with dishonesty esp to a guy that you've taken up and down every since he's been here but has done everything you asked him to do...now this is the way you treat him....
I will be happy if we in 6 games next ....the games in the east....
I don't care what many of you think of me, but I know this. If they make this move and I hope this all smacks them in the face like most dumb moves they make do, then snyder will react differently... before I turn 50......and I'm about to turn 39.....lol
