My house is flooded.
Family is okay but the basement is unreal right now. I live in Pocatello Idaho, we don't even get an inch of rain all of June. It rained 3 inches in about 30 minutes.
Just great.

Thankfully, my wife was on top of things so we got most of the stuff that would have been damaged out before it got bad.
We've got the water out of the house, torn out all the carpet. Ugh what a night.

at least you got it out quickly.. it is when it sits there and percolates that you get unreal damage.. my inlaws had to gut the house back to the studs... we were luckier, but it was still horrendous

Is your basement subterranean? If so, I would recommend french drains and a sump pump.
