Default First Round Signings

Is it me or is this year proving to be particularly bad for First Round picks getting signed.

The Raiders, Bills and Niners all have started camps without their picks.

The list below shows how bad it is.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09...s&confirm=true

Orakpo has not signed and with Aaron Maybin playing hard ball with the Bills we could see a holdout in D.C.

Who like me feels that something needs to be done about this whole situation, Rookies should not be allowed to holdout as far as I am concerned. I am also not averse to creating a fixed pay structure for picks 1 thru 32 that raises incremently by a fixed % each year. I have never been happy that Rookies in the first can pull in more than 4 year vets.

Your thoughts.

I think the players and the league will resolve this very issue in the next Collective Bargaining Agreement. The only ones who really get anything out of this (besides the top 10 picks) are the agents. I blame them and their greed (whether it be for more money for themselves or more future clients).

Of course, if they fail to get a collective bargaining agreement done, who knows what the future will hold.

Ultimately, I think you're right. It's a complete mess, and I've been surprised at the slow pace of signings this year.

this is going to be a bad year for early signings, even without idiots like crabtree wanting top 3 money.. good luck to the niners...

This looks like it could be a real problem for the 26 unsigned #1s if they are waiting to see if Crabtree's agent can get the proposed deal done.

First of the CAA signings are getting done - Heyward-Bey, Smith, and even Freeman. Looks like they're not going to wait on Crabtree...thank goodness. This should allow them to turn their focus to Moreno, Orakpo, and Jenkins, as long as they're not waiting on Maybin.
