Pro Football Weekly Cerrato Snippet
The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
"I keep hearing how they are going to clean house in Washington. People forget how it all came together — Jim Zorn was hired to be the coordinator, not the head coach. He fell into the job. It was not a splash hire characteristic of the owner. It didn't fit his profile. It was about self-preservation for (vice president of player personnel) Vinny Cerrato. I don't know how he can survive another coach. The owner will never win as long as he (Cerrato) is in the building."
The only person in the universe who doesn't seem to know this is Snyder.

I disagree. Vinny is merely the whipping boy. Dan is the problem.

Agreed. I see Vinny as little more than Snyder's personal personnel adviser/scout and scapegoat. Even if Vinny is actually calling the shots it has been and will continue to be Snyder's fault for letting it continue.

It's a Combo but the more time passes, the more it looks like Vinny is simply Dan's mouthpiece.
I find myself wondering if Vinny is actually capable of being a competent "football guy" but is just being overshadowed and handcuffed by Dan.
hmmm...
Still, Get rid of Zorn/Vin/Blache/Overpriced Divas/etc. clean house, blow it up and lets (65,000 fans at Fedex) have an intervention w/ Danny.

I agree completely. No one really knows what the hell is going on there, but I'm defaulting to George Michael's claim that Danny calls all the personnel shots. It sure seems that way. For all anyone really knows, Vinny may be the spackle that's holding the raft together. He's a great scape-goat for Danny-boy, but the scary thing is that personnel decisions and the draft may even get worse without him, unless the idiot owner finally hires and empowers (key word) a real GM who knows what he's doing.

vinny has as much say in the redskins as the Queen Of England does in England.
Vinny is just a figure head, a cover for snyder to make his moves.
Snyder needs to step aside and let a football gm make the moves, and just sign the checks. then we can become a dominate franchise, witha great owner willing to pay, and a great gm with a great football city.
what can't snyder see about this!!!!

It is so tragic, I don't even know what to do anymore short of never going to games or buying merchandise.
Nothing seems to matter to Snyder other than his bottom line. He's an impetuous, young turd. I'd really like to fill a sock with oranges and beat him about the head, neck, and shoulders. He'd probably sell me a Redskins sock for 45.00 and then supply the oranges at 7.00 a pop.
The sad thing is, I'd pay double that.

It's true though. Vinny/Grey take the heat for Snyders/Blache mistakes.

vinny is snyder's own personal hemmoroid!!! this all falls on snyder,he owns the team, not VC.does snyder own the skins outright?
since the cost was nearly 1 billion dollars, does'nt he have any investors he has to answer too?

From Wiki...sounds about right...
In May 1999, he purchased the team and their then two-year old stadium for $800 million following the death of the previous owner Jack Kent Cooke. At the time, it was the most expensive transaction in sporting history. The deal was financed largely through borrowed money, including a $340 million borrowed from Société Générale and $155 million debt assumed on the stadium. Annual loan servicing costs are an estimated $50 million. Snyder was very interested in the appearance of the team and the surrounding area. Under Snyder's stewardship, a naming rights deal with FedEx saw the stadium's name change from Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, named for the beloved late owner of the franchise, to FedEx Field.
