Davis also got to develop behind Terry Allen for a couple years. He wasn't ready his first couple of years either. So you can sneeze at Betts & Canidate all you want, but they are ahead of Davis at this point in their careers.
Also as a teary Emmit Smith learned, no RB suceeds on his own (Welcome to Barry Sander's World, Emmit). Half of Davis's credit goes to the line which is still here.
Davis is a nice back. But no way I hold him in any higher reguard than Terry Allen, Earnest Byner, (Timmy Smith - ok), George Rogers, John Riggins. A worthy sucessor will arise behind that o-line.
