This comes from PFT. Like I said in the morning. I hope Shanahan is the next coach. But i do think the skins have a plan B.

Though the Redskins have focused on Mike Shanahan like Albert Haynesworth focuses on his mid-afternoon pork chops, the team realizes that Shanahan hasn't committed to anything yet -- and thus that he could go elsewhere, if the money is right (i.e., better).

As a result, G.M. Bruce Allen has been making calls to lineup up a "Plan B," according to Jay Glazer of FOX.

It's a smart move. Though Shanahan is by all appearances ready to take the job, he believes in keeping his options open, and he's surely hoping that more options open up.

One way or another, the current coach's job status will be resolved soon. Glazer expects Jim Zorn to be fired within the next 24-48 hours. We think it'll happen sooner than that.

i would expect nothing less this time.. last time the Redskins appeared to have all but settled on Spanuolo, and when it didint work out, they were screwed and ended up with Zorn
..
i bet we do have a valid plan B.. and it does place some pressure on Shanahan to make up his mind

Meh. Glazer keeps making claims on this situation, then backpedals from them as fast as possible when no one else confirms them.

there is NO reason to delay, except to talk about the terms.. in the end, snyder just needs to pay him for next year and be done with it.. it would be the height of folly to delay the process to save a few bucks, and perhaps lose Shanahan over it..

Well this is somewhat encouraging to me. I was worried that Skins were going with their "all or nothing" mentality and we got burned the last time doing that.

Default Casserly says the Staff is set

posted at www.realredskins.com

charlie casserly has been quoted as saying the Redskins coaching staff is set.
Mike Shanahan HC
Kyle Shanahan OC
Mike Zimmer DC

Zimmer's contract is up and he was said to be lowballed by the Bengals on his last contract.. the only question would be if he is up for consideration as a HC himself ?

Kyle Shanahan is under contract at Houston for next year.. that could be sticky unless they can work out the deal, or elevate Kyle to head coach in waiting..

you cant be wishy-washy about Shanahan.. with a guy like him, the pursuit is everything.. but you cannot let him leave you dangling.. there has been more than enough time to work out the parameters of the contract by now.. either he wants the deal, or he doesnt...

Would the fact that Kubiak is Houston's HC help us out at all?

sure.. they could release him as a matter of courtesy, but in the end, Kubiak
has to have his allegiance to the Texans above all else..

Kubiak has his own issues of survival as well.. they need to make the playoffs or they ALL could be out in houston

interesting question: if BOTH kubiak and Kyle shanahan are fired, do BOTH end up under Mike ? who is the OC and who is the QB coach ?
my guess would be the roles are reversed, and Kyle is the OC with Kubiak as the QB coach.. i dont think Kubiak will get another HC gig, so he could be elevated as OC if Kyle Shanahan gets a HC spot in the future.. all conjecture, right now

Do you believe the Skins would be negotiating a contract with a potential new coach while Zorn is still on the job?
